To say the Virginia home school community was on fire for Ken Cuccinelli is an understatement. Parents worked for months collecting signatures on petitions, hosting meet-and-greets, spreading the word, and signing up as delegates to the RPV Convention.
The majority of home schooling families believe in less government, more individual responsibility, less taxes, responsible spending, and individual liberties. When they find a candidate who has those same beliefs -- and unequivocally states them -- they will back him.
So ... did the home schooling community make the difference for Ken Cuccinelli? And can they become a viable voice in Virginia politics?

Yes We Can! ... Oh wait, wrong campaign. lol.
I don't think it is possible for homeschoolers to "become a viable voice in Virginia politics" because they already are. Homeschoolers were forced into political activism when school and government officials tried to deny their right to teach their own children as they saw fit. Mike Farris and HSLDA were formed to help them in that, and Farris is now one of the most coveted endorsements for a GOP candidate. The homeschool grassroots are able to provide the GOP foot soldiers to counter the Democrats' unions and groups like ACORN.
