Working the 2008 Augusta County Fair ... Day 3

Clouds indicated we may get rain but it never materialized. The fair has enjoyed fair weather all week.
Kurt at the Valley Family Forum booth. "Dr. Mike," as he is known by his Governor School students, has seen many of those students this week during the fair. School starts back in less than two weeks ... summer is waning.

Del. Ben Cline joined us tonight at the Republican booth where we had another great night with 10 volunteers coming and going. The Valley Family Forum booth was also manned throughout the night with local volunteers.

Folks were asking for McCain bumper stickers. We're working to get more but McCain supplies will be low until the first part of September.

Balloon story: Bright blue Goodlatte balloons have been popular with the children. Tonight the Dems were blowing up balloons with their candidates' names on them and handing them to kids. On at least a half-dozen instances, the parents came around to the Republican booth and exchanged the blue Dem balloon for the blue Republican Goodlatte balloon. One mom said she was afraid someone she knew would see her little boy with the Democrat balloon but "how can you take a balloon away from your child," she asked. The solution ... stop by the Republican booth and switch it.

On another warm Valley summer day, it was nice to have air conditioning in the fair exhibit building. As mentioned before, this is the first year that has been available and everyone has noticed and commented on how comfortable it is.

Only two days left of the fair....
