Live blogging the Republican Round-Up

Mike Thomas and his daughter, Ashley, just stopped by Bloggers Row to say hello. Lots of folks from Chesterfield, friends of my parents who are long-time Republican volunteers ... and Seventh District Chairman Linwood Cobb did the first door prize drawing a while ago and now the band is entertaining again.

Ben Marchi just stopped by to say hello. The place is hopping, and they just announced the program will begin in five minutes at 4:35-ish.

Folks are still filing past with plates of food, there's a turnover at the tables as folks eat, then get up to wander the grounds, parents taking children to play or get cotton candy and popcorn. RSVPs as of Thursday were at 4,200 and, with the pretty weather, there's sure to be that many and more. The grounds are packed.

It's not too late to stop by for Brock's BBQ, hotdogs, potato salad, cole slaw, and baked beans. There's even adult beverages available. The fun continues until 6:00.

The band is now playing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA." The entire crowd is standing up ... amazing.
