At last night's Augusta County Board of Supervisors meeting the family of Lance Cpl. Daniel Morris, 19, USMC, who was recently killed in action in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, was presented with a resolution honoring this young man's service and sacrifice to our country.
Daniel had been a part of the Augusta County Government building family as a volunteer so he was a familiar face to many who worked there. It was a somber presentation and all in attendance rose to their feet as it was presented to applaud and thank the family.
I searched this morning's Staunton News Leader but couldn't find anything published about this. What a shame because commemorating a local young man who gave his life in war should be newsworthy ... especially in a small community.
