Bob Bauer, a Democratic lawyer specializing in laws regulating political speech, notes —not approvingly—that the Times supposedly has a policy of rejecting ads involving "personal attack" speech. But the Times accepted MoveOn.org's ad accusing a soldier of betraying his country.
