Who says the New York Times doesn’t have a comic section?

NY Times readers were this morning (Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007) greeted to a full page cartoon masquerading as a serious issue advertisement courtesy of MoveOn.org. After previously playing schoolyard name games with General Patraeus, MoveOn spent tens of thousands of dollars (assuming the Times didn’t give it another friendly “discount”) to make a mockery of the situation in Iran. Titled “The Washington Follies,” MoveOn’s latest embarrassment features President Bush and Karl Rove as cartoon characters plotting to start a war with Iran.

What’s next, MoveOn whoopee cushions to raise awareness of global warming?

More to the point, the issue of Iran’s nuclear weapons program is far from settled. The NIE itself makes clear that Iran could quickly restart its weapons program (provided, of course, that it really has stopped it). Additionally, both Israel and the British strongly disagree with the NIE’s assessment that Iran has ceased its pursuit of nuclear weapons. In short, it would be foolish to risk American security by taking the pressure off Iran based on this one report.

Maybe MoveOn could do another cartoon depicting Iranian strongman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad going on about a world without America, denying the Holocaust, or threatening to wipe Israel off the map. Oh wait, that wouldn’t be a cartoon – that would be real life.

This sophomoric rant from MoveOn is another example why reasonable Americans reject its far-left message – and why both the U.S. House and Senate voted to condemn it!

RedState's latest post on the Freedom's Watch ads that were banned by NBC:

Scott at Power Line reports that NBC has backed down (or "has decided to amend its standards and practices") from its refusal to air the Freedom's Watch holiday ads thanking the troops.

NBC lawyer who nixed troop ad is a dem donor

H/T to Jerry at From On High for calling attention to RedState's post about the NBC lawyer who was part of the decision for NBC's refusal to air the Freedom's Watch ads thanking American troops during the holidays.

NBC Lawyer who nixed troop ad gives generously to Congressional Democrats (from redstate.com):

According to a Fox News report, Richard Cotton, the general counsel for NBC/Universal, was one of two network officials who decided not to sell ad time to Freedom’s Watch, which describes itself as “a nonpartisan movement dedicated to preserving, protecting, and defending conservative principles and promoting a conservative agenda.”

According to FEC records, Cotton has been a generous donor to Democrat campaigns and liberal causes. Earlier this year, he donated $1,000 to the political action committee (PAC) of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and last year gave the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) $7,000.

Over the past decade, Cotton has contributed at least $45,000 to Congressional Democrats, including $2,000 each to Clinton and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). (link)

Columbia University: This is what is wrong with higher education....

The powers that be at Columbia University ...

... will not allow ROTC or American military representatives on campus -- those very people who protect the liberties and safety of Columbia ...

... but will allow terrorist Iran President Ahmadinejad to be a guest and had the audacity to say Columbia is all about free speech and would have invited Hitler.

Free speech? While barring American military from their campus? Wonder if they would allow a chaplain to pray in the name of Jesus?

Freedom's Watch has been watching ... and has a new print advertisement in the New York Times protesting Ahmadinejad's visit.

Freedom's Watch President Bradley A. Blakeman said of the visit:

"Freedom's Watch could not sit back and allow a terrorist to come to America masquerading as a world leader. We have an obligation to warn the world of the dangers of a nuclear Iran and to uncover the true intent, that being, the destruction of the United States and the State of Israel. Let's be clear, Iran today kills American soldiers in Iraq and they will not stop there."

Thank goodness someone is watching out for America.
