'If you enjoy singing Amazing Grace, you might be a terrorist'
As Americans head out to church this Sunday morning, here's something to think about. After the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security's bungled report suggesting that Catholicism and evangelical Christians might be terrorists, Doug Giles at Townhall.com came up with a handy you-might-be-a-redneck kind of list for Christians. Try the following using your best Jeff Foxworthy voice:

Religious freedom?
More like Christian persecution.
Yankee Phil has Go to jail for praying in Florida.
Religious freedom? Christians need to wake up, come out from behind the church walls, and get involved ... their "religious freedom" is eroding. Check out WallBuilders for the godly heritage of this country.

Congressman promotes prayer
From David Barton and Wallbuilders....
Too often over recent years, Christians and traditional value citizens have seen very few leaders who reflect our convictions interviewed by the national media; yet, the lack of presence of such individuals on the secular media certainly does not mean that they do not exist. To the contrary, there are many champions of Biblical values in Congress, but the national media is rarely interested in them and therefore seldom interviews them.
One such champion is Rep. Mike Pence (IN). I thought you might be encouraged to see part of a speech he recently delivered to a large national gathering.
God bless!
David Barton
P.S. If you appreciate Mike's comments, you might send him an email letting him know. Unquestionably, all of us – especially those on the front lines of the culture war – benefit from words of encouragement!

From Congressman Mike Pence:
"We must recognize that our present crisis is not merely economic and political but moral in nature. At the root of these times is the realization that we are struggling because so many in authority have walked away from the timeless truths of integrity, personal responsibility, an honest day's work for an honest day's pay, and the notion that we should live and work in a way that treats others as we would want to be treated. [Matthew 7:12]
"The Old Book says, 'If the foundations crumble, how can the righteous stand?' [Psalm 11:3] If the foundations of integrity and personal responsibility crumble, indeed how can a free society endure? The truth is, we must get back to basics.
"Recently, U. S. News & World Report called to say they had heard a rumor that I open my staff meetings at the House Republican Conference in prayer. (Only in Washington, DC, is being caught in private prayer a newsworthy event!) We told them, 'Yes, the Congressman does open meetings in prayer; we pray for the President, for colleagues in both parties – and sometimes we even pray for the press!' The truth is that in times like these it is good to 'remember what your knees are for.'
"Our Founders believed in prayer – as did one of our greatest presidents: an Indiana farm boy named Abe Lincoln.
"At the height of a civil war and on the eve of a bloody battle on a field in Gettysburg , President Lincoln fell to his knees and prayed. Lincoln later recalled to a Union general, 'I don't know how it was, and I cannot explain it, but soon a sweet comfort crept into my soul. The feeling came that God had taken the whole business into His hands and that things would go right.'
"Like millions of Americans, I've been spending some time on my knees lately and I've got the same feeling that, in the midst of these dark days, by His grace, things will go right again.
"I close where this address began – standing, as I did just a few short weeks ago, on the barricades of Fort McHenry, in Baltimore harbor.
"Facing overwhelming opposition, and what must have seemed like the inevitable advance of defeat, a small band of regulars withstood 25 hours of bombardment at the hands of the British fleet. And when the sun rose and smoke cleared, because of their courage and determination, our flag was still there. A poem was written, an anthem inspired, and a nation reborn to freedom and independence.
"Inspired by their example, let us conservatives resolve this day that we, like they, will stand and fight; we will not yield. And with determination and courage and faith, we, like those Americans so many years ago, will hold the banner of freedom high and the good and great people of this land will rally to our cause. So help us God."

Chaplain fired for praying in Jesus' name....
"My Jesus, My Freedom, My Stand"
In Florida, a hospital chaplain was fired for praying in Jesus' name. It has now become more common to forbid praying in Jesus' name ... they have forbidden Staunton City Council and Augusta Board of Supervisors from doing so ... a Navy chaplain was fired for doing it ... now a hospital chaplain.

Clergy and citizens from over 30 churches [gathered] ... to march around the hospital ... on Saturday, September 15, starting from the steps of Leesburg City Hall. The marchers [walked] in silent prayer for two-miles around the South Campus of the hospital, wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the rallying cry, "My Jesus, My Freedom, My Stand."Others joined in the march.
Public outcry in support of Chaplain Harvey has already resulted in the sudden resignation of hospital CEO Louis Bremer, the same man who publicly supported Human Resource director Darlene Stone who fired Chaplain Harvey for praying in Jesus name.
Former Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt, who made national headlines after facing court-martial for praying in Jesus name in uniform, [joined] the march. "We want Chaplain Harvey reinstated," Kingenschmitt said, "The fact CEO Louis Bremer resigned in the face of public scandal should serve as a warning to employers everywhere, that the American public will not tolerate religious discrimination against chaplains or any employees who pray in Jesus name, or share their faith in public."It is time to stand up for you believe in, America.
