That's what friends are for....

9/11 ... it's been rainy and dreary all day, almost as if the sky is weeping at the remembrance of a day that changed America. I sat outside on the porch for a long while as the rain came down, rocking and remembering and letting my thoughts wander....

For some reason this anniversary of 9/11 has been sadder than previous ones and, ironically, those I've talked with today have felt the same way. Maybe it's the hate-filled atmosphere in our country at a time of war. Emails and phone calls have come in throughout the day from friends and family members....

It's a time to cling to those you love.

Tonight the SWAC crew will get together and honor one of our own who was in the middle of New York City as one of the city's finest -- a proud member of the NYPD -- six years ago.

Phil, the beer's on us!

Never forget.
