Cell phone service along I-81 corridor interrupted

Frozen switches? Ice on the towers? Short circuit?

If your phone has been unusually quiet today, it's not be because you aren't popular. Verizon cell service along the I-81 corridor from Roanoke north has been interrupted this morning which has caused emails and IMs to fly back and forth between those who were not able to link up by phone.

But the good news is it's getting better. My phone just came to life, spewing forth backed-up voice mail and text messages. I've heard phones are coming back on line a few at a time so, hopefully, the problem will be solved.
