Jennifer Rubin: 'What about Jeb?'

He's known as the other Bush brother, the one who originally was expected to run for president before his older brother found himself in the right place at the right time. Both governors with the experience from that executive position, Jeb's name has been tossed around for a while as someone to run for president.

However, general sentiment seemed to be that the country had soured on the Bush name. Father George H.W. as president 41, and brother George W. as president 43. Would America really want a Bush president 46?

With the passing of time and circumstances, the time may be right, and the Washington Post's opinion writer Jennifer Rubin agrees. In her post earlier this week -- "What about Jeb?" -- she made a notable argument in Jeb's favor:
George W. Bush has bounced back in popularity, and if the Dems can run a Clinton there is no reason the GOP can’t run a Bush. Besides, experienced leadership may be in style after we survive the next three years. And to boot, GOP governors are looking like the party’s saviors these days. Moreover, the passage of time has allowed certain issue to fade and others to resolve themselves (e.g. the Bush tax cuts). Jeb Bush understandably can say “times have changed” if he chooses not to adopt a position his brother took sixteen years ago. (Yes, it’ll be 16 years between 43′s presidential run and when Republicans again start trudging through Iowa and New Hampshire.)
...
I have no idea if he will run. But I am more convinced that he could and should. He’s got a lot to tell the GOP voters.
Run, Jeb, run. He may find he has more supporters than he realizes.

Hillary wasn't ready for 3 a.m. phone call

Remember the infamous 2008 Hillary Clinton for President "3 a.m. phone call" ad that claimed Obama was too inexperienced at international relations to be president? Seems Hillary wasn't ready either when the Benghazi tragedy happened on September 11, 2012 and, as a result, American lives were lost.

From Jennifer Rubin in today's Washington Post:
Hillary’s famous 3 a.m. phone call ad turned out to be prophetic. Obama was not prepared for the myriad of foreign policy challenges. But neither was she.
Unfortunately for Hillary, it's the issue that won't go away....

With friends like this....

Hillary just lost another supporter who had jumped onboard early in her campaign. Apparently George McGovern read the tea leaves after yesterday's North Carolina primary and decided Hillary couldn't win ... so he switched sides. With friends like this....

From Fox News:
Former Sen. George McGovern, an early supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton, urged her to drop out of the Democratic presidential race and endorsed her rival, Barack Obama.
Good to know you've got friends who will stick with you to the bitter end....

Hillary's in t-r-o-u-b-l-e

Hillary's polling numbers in Iowa are falling. In a just-released ABC poll, she has slipped behind Obama who has 30%, Hillary is at 26%, and John Edwards is at 22%.

Some of the MSM's reaction:

Good Morning America's ROBIN ROBERTS to George Stephanopoulos: "Along with Obama's lead, the ABC News poll shows some troubling results when it comes to honesty with Senator Clinton. Only 50% of those polled say she's willing to say what she really thinks, and when asked who was most trustworthy, Obama beats her two-to-one. So what is it they don't think she's being honest about?"

STEPHANOPOULOS:A whole lot of things, Robin. Remember two weeks ago there was this debate where Hillary had some trouble answering those questions on whether or not she would give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. Ever since then, her opponents, both Barack Obama and John Edwards, have been driving this issue of honesty and trustworthiness on every issue. They say that Senator Clinton is not saying that she thinks about Social Security, is not saying what she thinks about what she would dune in Iran or Iraq and it’s starting to take a toll about Senator Clinton now in Iowa.

On Hardball ... Washington Post's CHRIS CILLIZZA: I think everyone's going to see this tomorrow and think, wow, Barack Obama 30, Hillary Clinton 26. Now, pollsters will tell you, well, the statistical margin of error, not all that much has changed: baloney. This race is about perception, and if people perceive Barack Obama as surging, that is very important. Remember, the biggest argument in Hillary Clinton's favor is that she is inevitable, that she's going to win this nomination no matter what. Well, when polling starts to come out that shows Barack Obama ahead of her, that argument really goes to pieces.

MAJOR GARRETT: Here are the poll numbers from Iowa. For the very first time, Barack Obama now leads in the state, 30% for Barack Obama, 26% for Hillary Clinton.

MATT LAUER: Barack Obama at 30%. Hillary Clinton 26.

CAROL COSTELLO: Barack Obama with 30% support and Hillary Clinton with 26%, in the make-or-break state of Iowa.

WILLIE GEIST: Barack Obama has a slim lead, 30%, Hillary Clinton at 26.

CHRIS CILLIZZA: Wow, Barack Obama 30, Hillary Clinton 26.
Once someone in the media, namely Tim Russert, took the time to peel back the layers and ask the tough follow-up questions, Hillary started exposing her weaknesses. As Rush Limbaugh pointed out, her candidacy has been a house of cards.

Now is the time for the tough questions from the MSM ... and it's time for answers from Mrs. Clinton. It is time to release the records from the Clinton library that they are playing coy with, it is time to truly examine her record including her health care innitiatives during the Clinton administration -- what was her record of accomplishment during that time?

And while they are at it, the media may want to dig a little more into Whitewater and the Rose law firm papers that disappeared and were later found at the White House concerning Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan, and Travelgate when White House travel office employees were fired by the Clintons without reason and Billy Dale was falsely accused and sent to trial (after working at the White House for 30 years and eight presidents). There are many questions in the background of the Clintons ... if the media would follow up and do their jobs as much as they do when going after a Republican candidate.

Politico: "Hillary bombs debate"

Politico is following Hillary and holding her accountable as she dodges and ducks questions and issues. About last night's democrat debate in Philadelphia, Politico's Roger Simon wrote Obama, Edwards attack; Clinton bombs debate with the following excerpts:
In a debate against six Democratic opponents at Drexel University here Tuesday, Clinton gave the worst performance of her entire campaign. ...

It was not just that her answer about whether illegal immigrants should be issued driver's licenses was at best incomprehensible and at worst misleading.

It was that for two hours she dodged and weaved, parsed and stonewalled. ...

Asked whether she still agrees with New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s plan to give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, Clinton launched into a long, complicated defense of it. But when Chris Dodd attacked the idea a moment later, Clinton quickly said: “I did not say that it should be done.”

NBC’s Tim Russert, one of the debate moderators, jumped in and said to her: “You told (a) New Hampshire paper that it made a lot of sense. Do you support his plan?”

"You know, Tim,” Clinton replied, “this is where everybody plays ‘gotcha.’ ” ...
Politico's conclusion:
But, in the past, Clinton could always depend on her opponents to lose these debates. All she had to do was stay above the fray to win. Those days seem to be over.
Read the entire article for the full impact of Hillary's dodge-and-weave.

Republican women are smarter than that....

Hillary Clinton supporters are saying one of four Republican women will vote for Hillary if she is the candidate ... because she's a woman. In their dreams! Their PR spin is in overdrive ... Republican women are smarter than voting gender over principles.

Hillary voted AGAINST Gen. Petraeus and FOR MoveOn.org

Just don't want anyone to forget that Hillary voted AGAINST Gen. David Petraeus -- she as a United States senator voted against the leader of our military action in Iraq while we are at war -- and she voted FOR MoveOn.org which is a radical left-wing group that backs anti-war protests.

Is Hillary Rodham Clinton someone we want leading our country when world-wide terrorism is at an all-time high and radical Muslims have declared jihad against America?

Think about it....

MoveOn.org gives marching orders to Democrat Party....

On Friday, MoveOn.org warned Democrat presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama not to support funding for the troops:
"Eli Pariser, [MoveOn.org's] Executive Director, told ABC News ... that MoveOn.org will expect Clinton and Obama to once again vote against any Iraq War funding that does not include a timeline for withdrawal. ...

What's more ... MoveOn.org wants the top Democratic Presidential contenders to speak out 'sooner and more vocally.' " (Teddy Davis, "MoveOn's Challenge To Clinton And Obama," www.abcnews.com, Accessed 9/17/07)
Then, on Monday, Clinton and Obama responded to MoveOn.org's pressure by promising not to fund the troops:
Seventy-two hours later, Hillary and Obama quickly responded to MoveOn.org's demand not to support funding for the troops.

"Seventy-two hours after MoveOn.org threw down the gauntlet, telling ABC News that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., needed to speak out 'sooner and more vocally' in opposition to voting for an Iraq funding measure that does not include a timetable for withdrawal, both Democratic presidential contenders have done exactly that." (Teddy Davis, Jonathan Greenberger, and Donna Hunter, "Clinton, Obama Take No Funding Pledge," www.abcnews.com, Accessed 9/17/07)
What did Hillary say about it?
"I have voted against funding this war and I will vote against funding this war as long as it takes ..." (Sen. Hillary Clinton, Remarks At The Service Employees International Union Member Political Action Conference, Washington, DC, 9/17/07)
Obama's response was:
"If there is a funding bill that does not have a timetable for when we begin withdrawal, and the completion -- a plan for how that withdrawal will proceed -- I will not support it." (Teddy Davis, Jonathan Greenberger, and Donna Hunter, "Clinton, Obama Take No Funding Pledge," www.abcnews.com, Accessed 9/17/07)
Now, other Democrats are delaying funding for the troops while they "calculate" their next move to force an arbitrary withdrawal from Iraq:
"Democrats are not expected to take up President Bush's war spending request until November, giving them time to calculate their next move and see if Republican support for his policies deteriorates." (Anne Flaherty, "Democrats To Wait On War Funding Debate," The Associated Press, 9/17/07)
FLASHBACK: Hillary and Obama refused to denounce MoveOn.org ad attacking the top military commander in Iraq:
"Democratic Congressional leaders and the Party's presidential candidates ... refused to repudiate a liberal group's ad questioning Gen. David H. Petraeus' character." (Sean Lengell, "No Democratic Censure For Moveon Ad," The Washington Times, 9/12/07)
The Washington Post wrote:
"When...Gen. David Petraeus was slimed as 'General Betray Us,' Hillary Clinton looked the other way. This was the politics of personal expediency." (Richard Cohen, Op-Ed, "...What She Ducked," The Washington Post, 9/18/07)
Hillary pandered to MoveOn.org instead of defending Gen. Petraeus.
"[W]hen Clinton herself was asked to repudiate the abuse of Petraeus, she either saw no reason to do so or, much more likely, was afraid to alienate an important constituency, the 3.3 million members of MoveOn.org, who stand symbolically at the frontiers of New Hampshire and Iowa. She would, it seems, rather be president than be right." (Richard Cohen, Op-Ed, "...What She Ducked," The Washington Post, 9/18/07)
"Sen. Barack Obama wouldn't talk about this ad but suggested Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker are team players for the White House." (Editorial, "Over The Line," The Oklahoman, 9/14/07)

FLASHBACK: Hillary and Obama previously pandered to MoveOn.org by voting against funding for the troops:
Obama and Clinton voted against the Iraq Supplemental Spending Bill. (H.R. 2206, CQ Vote #181: Passed 80-14: R 42-3; D 37-10; I 1-1, 5/24/07, Obama and Clinton Voted Nay)
MoveOn.org threatened Democrats who did not vote against the war funding bill.
"MoveOn.org, a leading antiwar group, rallied its 3.2 million members in an e-mail alert ... that declared that 'every single Democrat must oppose this bill.' The group warned that it would consider backing primary challengers to Democrats who vote yes. Other organizations issued similar angry threats." (Shailagh Murray, "Antiwar Groups Press Democrats To Vote Against Iraq Bill," The Washington Post, 5/24/07)
MoveOn.org is today's Democrat Party.

What's Hillary got to hide?

Papers from White House years locked up

The Los Angeles Times reports that Hillary Clinton's papers from her White House years as First Lady have been locked up and probably will not be available before the 2008 presidential election.
Asked how long it might be before Hillary Clinton's records are released, the library's chief archivist said it could take years. ...

Not fast enough, in the view of some who have been waiting. A conservative watchdog group called Judicial Watch filed suit against the National Archives last month, demanding the release of Hillary Clinton's diaries, telephone logs, daily planners and schedules. ... In the most recent suit, Judicial Watch said it had submitted its request more than a year ago and had received nothing, save for confirmation that the library possessed "a substantial volume" of such papers. ...
