McAlister's Deli now in Waynesboro

The newest eatery to open in Waynesboro's westend is McAlister's Deli, located in front of the Target/Kohl's shopping center. With plenty of comfortable indoor seating and patio dining available, it offers a great place to meet friends and grab a bite to eat.

Sitting on the patio overlooking the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains, it is the best of both worlds ... good food and great scenery. The menu is varied with something for everyone ... from croissant sandwiches to stuffed potatoes to salads to desserts ... with gracious servings.

McAlister's was busy when a friend and I stopped there recently for a late lunch but the line moved quickly with plenty of friendly staff taking orders. Others cleared plates from the table and refilled drinks so, while you have to stand in line to order your lunch at the counter, once seated they take care of the rest. We spent over two hours there and the entire time servers came by to refill drinks.

The price is right, the food is good, the service is excellent. There is even a sign that says no tips are expected, and any collected will be given to charity. It reminded me of Ukrop's Supermarkets in Richmond ... no tips are expected nor solicited for the guys carrying groceries to your car.

If you are in the Target area of Waynesboro, be sure to check out McAlister's Deli for a casual but yummy, filling meal.

McAlister's Deli is located off I-64 in Waynesboro, Virginia. Take exit 94; turn south one block to Target Shopping Center on the left.

Outback Steakhouse coming to Waynesboro

By the end of August, Waynesboro's westend retail district will have another new restaurant, Outback Steakhouse, to add to its growing list of businesses. Located at 28 Windigrove Drive, it joins other locations along that street including South River Grill, Home Depot, Shoney's, and two motels. Opposite those businesses on the south side of I-64 is Target, Kohl's, Michael's, Pet Smart, and other stores that have recently opened ... all adding to Waynesboro's tax base.

Staunton doesn't have Waynesboro to laugh at anymore....
