How wonderful of Google to remember my birthday! LOL. Pulling it up this morning to search for something, the graphic above showed up. Wondering whose birthday they were celebrating, I mentioned it to my kids who suggested I hover my cursor over it. "Happy Birthday Lynn," it said. Imagine that. Don't ya love the electronic age we live in? I plan to have an amazing day with family ... enjoy yours as well!

Happy Birthday, Rush Limbaugh
Rush Limbaugh is celebrating his birthday today, and it is especially sweet this year after his health scare while vacationing in Hawaii over the Christmas-New Year holidays. Last year he celebrated at the White House with President George W. Bush singing "Happy Birthday" to him over a chocolate cake....

Happy Birthday, Congressman Eric Cantor
Got a phone call from my mom this evening saying they had attended Congressman Eric Cantor's birthday party at the Science Museum earlier today with several hundred other people. She said they had a wonderful time and enjoyed hearing from their Congressman.
She relayed the story of the event ... when they first arrived, she and step-dad found a table that had a couple sitting at it and asked if they could join them. While sitting there, Mom recognized a young lady with a big camera taking photos so when she walked by, Mom asked if she was a blogger because she had seen her last weekend at the RPV Convention at the Coliseum.
Why yes, the young lady responded ... she was Jane Dudley of Conservativa and Bearing Drift blogs. Mom told Jane that she was "SWAC Girl's mom," at which the lady across the table turned to her husband and said, "It's SWAC Girl's mom!"
It was Tom White and his wife, Sharon. Tom has the VA Right blog and sat beside me on Bloggers Row last weekend for the convention. That started a bogger conversation....
Received an email from Tom telling me he enjoyed meeting my folks.
What a small world.

Just one more candle and a trip around the sun....

"Never regret growing older. Just think of the alternative." --Unknown
Another Trip Around the Sun
Jimmy Buffet
Hear 'em singing Happy Birthday
Better think about the wish I made
This year gone by ain't been a piece of cake
Every day's a revolution
Pull it together and it comes undone
Just one more candle and a trip around the sun
I'm just hanging on while this old world keeps spinning
And it's good to know it's out of my control
If there's one thing that I've learned from all this living
Is that it wouldn't change a thing if I let go
No, you never see it coming
Always wind up wondering where it went
Only time will tell if it was time well spent
It's another revelation
Celebrating what I should have done
With these souvenirs of my trip around the sun
I'm just hanging on while this old world keeps spinning
And it's good to know it's out of my control
If there's one thing that I've learned from all this living
Is that it wouldn't change a thing if I let go
Yes, I'll make a resolution
That I'll never make another one
Just enjoy this ride on my trip around the sun
Just enjoy this ride ...
Until it's done.

And the birthday boy is ... Carl Kilo!!
Read the story of his birth on the same day as the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade and his adoption ... and you will understand his extreme appreciation for reaching the youthful age of 43.
Happy birthday, Carl!

Happy 80th Birthday, Mom!
She was born in 1927 during the Great Depression ... grew up during World War II ... met and married a young sailor after the war ... and became a businesswoman in Richmond. She's my mom ... and she turned 80 years old today. We took her on a journey to the small rural town outside Richmond where she was born ... where her family had arrived by train from a cabin in southwestern Virginia to find a better life and jobs. She was the last of 10 children, the one born in the flatlands instead of the mountains.
We all had lunch together and celebrated with cheese cake and strawberries, and with gifts. I had taken Warfel Chocolates from the Dayton Farmer's Market -- her favorites.
As we visited she recalled the story of her uncle who was the town cop way back when ... and how he had a shootout one night with a perpetrator ... they both were killed in the shooting. We drove by his house now owned by others, then went outside of town and looked for traces of the farm where she was born ... the house is gone but much still looks the same.
And we celebrated this woman who is in remarkably good health for someone her age who has worked hard all her life, who taught us to not whine about what we don't have but to instead work hard to achieve it, who instilled a strong work ethic in her three daughters ... my mom.
It was a good day with family. Happy birthday, Mom!
