Liberal Democrats are seizing the opportunity, with help from the liberal MSM, to make Arizona sounds like a racist, out-of-control state after the recent passage of a tough immigration law, SB 1070.

Untruths and outright lies are circulating throughout the mainstream media while responsible journalists try to put the brakes on rampantly false information.

Washington Examiner columnist Byron York has assembled ten misleading statements from various sources, saying:

Help Save Manassas responds to lawsuit filed by PRLDEF

Manassas, VA--Help Save Manassas, a grassroots advocacy organization of over 1,800 members dedicated to reducing the number of illegal aliens in Prince William County, The City of Manassas, and The City of Manassas Park will hold a press conference in front of the McCoart Building at 1 County Complex Court, Prince William, Virginia, 22912 at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 11th to respond to the lawsuit filed Wednesday by PRLDEF on the behalf of the Woodbridge Worker's Committee and sixteen other plaintiffs.

Help Save Manassas will provide background information on the Woodbridge Worker's Committee and their parent organization "Mexicans Without Borders", the legal issues involved in the lawsuit, and discuss the efforts Help Save Manassas will undertake to ensure that the voice of the citizens of Prince William County will not be silenced by the irresponsible and baseless litigation initiated by this organization that has ties to radical foreign revolutionary organizations which have engaged in terrorism in the past.

RPV's 2008 Legislative Policy Agenda: Illegal Immigration

Looking ahead to an even better, safer, more prosperous and opportunity filled future, Virginia Republican leaders in the General Assembly are championing a forward-looking agenda for governing that builds upon their past accomplishments.

Illegal Immigration

· Mandating that all local Sheriffs, upon a lawful arrest for a crime, confirm that person’s legal presence in the United States using the nationwide databases of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This change will streamline and strengthen statewide immigration enforcement.

· Ensuring that at least one person on duty in every jail at all times has been certified under federal 287(g) authority (named for the section of federal law that allows more effective cooperation between federal immigration officials and state and local governments). This change means that, upon a positive identification of an illegal alien, there will be a person with federal authority readily available to detain and begin deportation proceedings, after that individual has served his or her sentence.

· Creating a presumption of no bail for any person who has been charged with an offense punishable by jail or prison time and who has been determined (through ICE databases) to be illegally present in the United States. This change will help stop controversial “catch and release” activities, one of the primary ways criminal illegal aliens currently pass through existing government systems unchecked.

· Making a federal conviction for hiring illegal aliens grounds for suspension of a business license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. This change will serve as an effective deterrent to the unlawful hiring of illegal aliens.

· Prohibiting illegal aliens from attending Virginia public institutions of higher education, unless they have a valid student visa. Recognizing that college entrance slots are fixed and limited, this change will preserve state benefits for in-state students and their families.

Roscoe Reynolds voted against illegal immigration legislation....

Perhaps Sen. Roscoe Reynolds needed to hire Yellow Dog Joe Stanley because of his image as being soft on illegal immigration since he has voted time and time again to kill any type of legislation to help with that problem. For example....

The Bill: HB 2322....
Criminal procedure; admission to bail. Adds a presumption, subject to rebuttal, against admitting to bail any person charged with a felony who is identified as being present in the United States illegally.

The Vote: Passed overwhelmingly in the House (92 to 5), it was killed in the Senate with Reynolds voting to kill it.

The Bill: HB 1618....
Immigration laws. Governor to enter into agreement with federal immigration regarding. States that it is the responsibility of the Governor to enter into an agreement with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement that would allow the Department of State Police to enforce civil immigration laws.

The Vote: Passed in the House after Democrats tried to spike it by passing it off to committee. Killed in the Senate with Reynolds voting to kill it.

The Bill: HB 2448....
Verification of citizen status. Requires that a jailer shall reasonably attempt to verify the citizen status of certain persons who are confined in jail and that the Department of Corrections shall issue guidelines for such verifications. The bill also requires the Virginia State Bar to investigate the practice of providing legal advice to illegal immigrants and to establish related guidelines on unauthorized practice of law.

The Vote: Passed overwhelmingly in the House (90 to 6). Killed in Senate with Reynolds voting to kill it.

Reynolds also believes ILLEGAL immigrants should receive instate college tuition.
