Kaine embraces Obama and liberal policies

"I don't need to back away from anything." -- Tim Kaine

Former Gov. Tim Kaine said today that he won't run from President Obama or his own record as he campaigns for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

"I don't need to back away from anything," Kaine told reporters in a news conference outside the state Capitol, his first meeting with reporters since he formally launched his Senate candidacy on Tuesday.
.....
"Anything I've done is fair game," he said. "Folks can raise it. What I'll do is I'll say, 'Here's why I did it.' I ain't perfect. I hope I'm better tomorrow than I am today and I wake up every morning hoping that. But I feel very, very good about my record."

· Does that mean that Tim Kaine is OK with his decision to close 18 rest areas to "save" $9 million, while VDOT was sitting on more than $1 billion, all in the hope of pressuring the House of Delegates into raising the gas tax?

· Is Tim Kaine proud of the fact that he tried to force Virginians into choosing between higher income taxes or the end of Car Tax Relief?

· Does it also mean that Tim Kaine is still proud of helping Nancy Pelosi and President Obama pass a health care takeover that has been rejected by both Republicans AND Democrats in the Virginia General Assembly?
If Chairman Kaine truly doesn't see the need to back away from his record, then the voters will have no problem backing away from him in November.

Boy Scouts, trying to help troops, run up against political correctness.... UPDATED

Boy Scouts ... those patriotic young Americans who have a love of God and learn to care for others more than themselves ... were taught a tough lesson recently in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As reported by Boston Magazine:
In these uncertain times, it’s nice to know we can rely on some things. The sun will always rise and set. Gravity will always hold us down. And Cambridge will always be liberal to a fault.
So liberal they interpreted Boy Scouts manning donation boxes to raise money to support the troops as being too "pro-war." More on this video.

You can contact Marsha Weinerman, executive director of Cambridge's Election Commission, by email or by calling (617) 349-4363. Please be polite.

Help the Troops: You can show up Ms. Weinerman and those opposed to our troops by sponsoring a Christmas/holiday care package for our troops - and Move America Forward will be more than happy to send it over to Iraq and Afghanistan with love and appreciation.

Updated 11/16/07: The Boy Scout leader has spoken out against the city of Cambridge:
"We have never seen anything like this decision in Cambridge before. The city is changing for the worse if decisions like this are allowed to be made."

Media are "sympathetic to Democrats and hostile to Republicans"

Was there any doubt that the mainstream media are more favorable to Democrats and push their liberal-leaning agenda? Investor's Business Daily reports on a study that proves the bias:
Just like so many reports before it, a joint survey by the Project for Excellence in Journalism and Harvard's Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy — hardly a bastion of conservative orthodoxy — found that in covering the current presidential race, the media are sympathetic to Democrats and hostile to Republicans.
Looking at morning news shows, newspapers, National Public Radio, and cable news outlets, the study found newspapers were the most biased:
The most flagrant bias, however, was found in newspapers. In reviewing front-page coverage in 11 newspapers, the study found the tone positive in nearly six times as many stories about Democrats as it was negative. ...

The study also discovered that newspaper stories "tended to be focused more on political matters and less on issues and ideas than the media overall. In all, 71% of newspaper stories concentrated on the 'game,' compared with 63% overall."
That is certainly true with the Misleader in Staunton.

The study concluded by stating:
The PEG-Shorenstein effort is only the latest to conclude that the mainstream media tilt left. Others include Stanley Rothman and Robert Lichter's groundbreaking 1986 book "The Media Elite"; "A Measure of Media Bias," a 2005 paper written by professors from UCLA and the University of Missouri; and Bernard Goldberg's two books, "Bias" and "Arrogance."

All underscore the media's leftward leanings. The media, of course, insist they are careful to keep personal opinions out of their coverage. But the facts tell another story — one that can't be edited or spiked.
