"I pledge to be a servant to the president...."

Gag. A servant? To the president?

Can you believe the "I Pledge" ad that is currently making the rounds? Watch it here at Michelle Malkin's blog. She writes in her column, Obama’s classroom campaign: No junior lobbyist left behind:
“ABC” stands for All Barack’s Children. On September 8, young students across the country will be watching television. Yes, they’ll be parked in front of the boob tube and computer screens watching President Obama’s address on education.
Parents in droves are complaining to school systems ... others are vowing to keep their children out of school that day.

Day by day, I feel as if we're being indoctrinated into the Obama Nation.

The good part is that it has awakened a sleeping nation of people who are determined to protect their freedoms and not let their country be socialized by what is going on from the Obama Administration and the Democrats who rule Washington, D.C.

With these types of jam-it-down-their-throats tactics going on, I expect the home school movement and private schools to begin to grow again as parents pull children out of public schools. And a warning to those school choice parents: expect to be on the radical left's hit list. You are independent thinkers ... you must be indoctrinated.

NY teachers union hands out thousands of Obama buttons

What is going on with the educators of this country? After learning the Virginia Education Association (VEA) teachers union was encouraged to push Obama, now it is learned a New York teachers union has handed out thousands of Obama buttons to its members.

The New York Post reported:
"We don't want a school or school staff advocating for any political position or candidate to students and we don't want students feeling intimidated because they might hold a different belief or support a different candidate than their teachers."

United Federation of Teachers official LeRoy Barr told his members in a recent e-mail that union chief Randi Weingarten is fighting the DOE decision.

Officials of the union - which has endorsed Obama - said they didn't know of any schools where button-wearing teachers were told to zip it, but they said they were exploring the matter "to ensure members' rights to free speech and expression."

While department officials said the courts are on their side in the matter, many city teachers say their right to wear partisan buttons is a matter of free speech.

Several cited a landmark 1969 Supreme Court ruling involving students who planned to wear black armbands in protest of the Vietnam War. It affirmed that constitutional rights don't get dropped "at the schoolhouse gate."

"It's not teaching kids to vote for Obama; rather, it's showing them the democratic process in action," said Patrick Compton, a social-studies teacher at Lafayette HS in Brooklyn, who said he has been wearing an Obama button handed out by the union.
Oh, puh-leeze! It's not teaching kids to vote for Obama? Who are they kidding? These children are like sheep with teachers who are indoctrinating them to their liberal way of thinking.

Parents had better be alert because this is going on all over the country ... not just with this election but with global warming and other liberal issues.

Parent alert: Virginia Education Association (VEA) pushing Obama

What is going on in public education? What is going on with the Virginia Education Association (VEA), the teacher union that is pushing Democrat Barack Obama as president?

The Washington Times reported:
An e-mail distributed by a Virginia teachers union encouraged members to bring politics into the classroom by wearing blue in support of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama and simultaneously suggested that the union's voter registration efforts include those "you teach."

The Virginia Education Association (VEA) e-mail drew strong criticism Wednesday from elected Republican officials and some residents after the state Republican Party obtained a copy. The author of the e-mail conceded Wednesday that the e-mail should have been worded differently.

The VEA is an affiliate of the National Education Association, the country's largest teachers union.

"Schools should be perfectly neutral," Virginia resident Julie Aurora said Wednesday. "They should teach students how to think, not what to think."
The email encouraged teachers to wear blue for "Obama Blue Day" and to register voters for Obama.

No wonder so many parents are finding alternative sources of education for their children including home education. The indoctrination of our children by public schools is inexcusable.

Liberal college professors and our kids....

Cato at Delmarva Dealings posted how his college son was ready to transfer after only a week at school because of extremely liberal professors who spent half their time spouting off liberal politics and bashing President Bush. Thank you, Cato, for bringing attention to a huge problem in higher education ... the liberal profs who try to indoctrinate our kids.

I hear from students all the time who have to deal with that type of nonsense and it is frustrating to them. Most are able to hold their own but some parents are dismayed to find they are paying tremendous amounts of money only to find their child, in the words of Cato, "... comes back for Christmas break a raving Marxist or feeling that he or she is being harassed for being anything less than a full blown leftist."

Higher education and the MSM ... hotbeds of liberalism. Conservatives are making inroads in those fields but it will be years before we can balance the scales with a goal of having unbiased teachers and reporters.
