Assessment petitions at Tractor Supply

Wilbur was an adorable hit at the
Tractor Supply's "Community Days" event on Saturday.

Saturday was Valentine's Day. It was also Community Days at Tractor Supply in Staunton with tables set up for shoppers to check out the SPCA (with "Coco" and "Bones" there to greet folks), HOPE (with two kitties that were held and petted by many hands), a display by the Blue Ridge Equine Center (complete with Shetland pony "Wilbur" who greeted folks outside), animal food displays, free coupons, demonstrations, food presented by a local 4-H Club, and petitions by Augusta Citizens Against Unfair Assessments.

We set up our table with petitions and handouts for those interested in seeing their 2009 real estate assessments rolled back to the 2005 value, and were able to fill up three more petitions.

The black lab mix named Coco that was visiting with the SPCA was adopted by a young couple. HOPE, a group that take care of unwanted cats, had a number of bags of cat food donated to their cause.

SWAC Niece dropped by (with her parents) to say hello which was a pleasant surprise. They were on a day jaunt and stopped by to spend a little time visiting before heading on their way. What a great Valentine surprise! We gave her a Valentine goodie bag of treats ... and then, too soon, they had to leave.

Many thanks to our volunteers for their help, and thanks also to Tractor Supply for inviting us.
