The Journey reminds that all politics is local

It's amazing how much in local government rolls along because citizens are trusting their elected representatives to do the right thing and, for the most part, it works. Usually if a contested issue comes up and generates phone calls or letters from one or two dozen people, it catches the attention of the public official. If one hundred people register a complaint, it's a red-hot issue.

What if 10,600 people sign petitions registering a complaint and then over 1,000 show up for a Board of Supervisors meeting?
