One of the surviving grape-like wisteria clusters hangs on the porch after last week's killing cold snap. The vintage wisteria vine, that normally doesn't bloom until mid-April, extends across the entire front of our house and offers a nice shade canopy in the summer.
Hundreds of blooms hang dead after a low temperature of 25 degrees last Monday night froze them just days before they would have bloomed. The vines were loaded and promised to be a showcase year after a mild winter and extremely warm March. In previous years the sweet smell has permeated the air.
