Earley in the filing, arguing that the “expansive interpretation of federal law” on which counts 1-11 are based “is completely alien to any legal advice that any of us would have given to any governor of Virginia.”Earlier this week the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers called for dismissal of 11 of the 14 charges, citing that federal prosecutors are overstepping in a state issue.
