Butterflies, wildflowers, and the coming of fall in the Shenandoah Valley.... Part 2

Hemlock tree transplanted from my great-grandfather's homestead in the mountains of Grayson County in southwest Virginia. It connects me to my past and is a reminder of the hard work it took for my forebears to scrape out a living on a small farm over 100 years ago.

Persimmon trees are loaded with the not-yet-ripe fruit. Usually persimmons are not ready to eat until after the first frost.

Even the quince bushes have fruit....

Berries are abundant on the wild cherry trees....
