Autumn in the Shenandoah Valley ... traveling Pastures District

Spent today lit-dropping in Pastures District and, while driving the backroads and neighborhoods, took photos including this interesting gate with the rooster silouette at the top ... with the mountains in the background.

Autumn leaves cover the ground including this abandoned road in the Buffalo Gap area.

View from one of the neighborhoods....

Old barns are everywhere....

Back road in Swoope....

Back road ... pastures ... mountains....
Railroad tracks go from Staunton through Pastures District and westward. This is the crossing near the Swoope Post Office.

The sign over the door says, "Swoope Chapel. 1884."

Back road of Pastures....

The weeping willow caught my attention....

It was the cows and the tree that caught my eye....

Geese swim in a farm stream....

The mountains across the way....

Sunset at the end of the day....
