Red flag alert....

When Not Larry Sabato says soon-to-be-ex-Senator Brandon Bell has an "excellent new blog," my red flags go up.

Why does he praise this Republican? Because, of course, Bell is bashing fellow Republicans including Jim Gilmore's candidacy for U.S. Senate. Bell, who lined up with moderate Republicans in the senate and was defeated by a staunch conservative, appears to have not learned a thing....

Can someone quote for me the last time liberal democrat bloggers bashed one of their own candidates?

Thanks for the unity, Brandon.

Bell and Saxman have the same consultant. Bell doesn't want unity, he wants a job. That's why he's throwing mud.

Hey wait a minute! I reread my post and nowhere did I "bash" Jim Gilmore. I have the upmost respect for his service. While in my first state senate term I campaigned for him for AG and he was my reelection kickoff speaker. I just don't think he can beat Warner and we need an untarnished conservative to run. Seems a bit hypocritical to say it is not ok even to challenge the candidacy of a republican for nomination in an open seat, yet 6 months ago it was ok to bash--no viciously trash--sitting republican incumbents. By the way I feel confident in being and remaining a conservative. VCAP evidently agreed by not endorsing my primary opponent Mr. Smith. Must have felt we were equally conservative.

To Anon: I don't know what you are talking about. I have no consultant and also am the sole owner of my own business.

Brandon,

If you feel that "bash" is too harsh a word, how about "kick around"? Whichever it is, I found it ironic that you were defeated because of your less-than-conservative leadership and yet you came out of the blogging gate being critical of Governor Gilmore, a conservative.

No one in this area "viciously trashed" a sitting incumbent but we certainly did expose his voting record.

Who, in your opinion, is the person to beat Warner if not Gilmore? Gilmore is ready, he has the fire in his belly, he has the organization and money ... what makes you so certain he could not beat Warner? Allen proved that anyone is beatable.

Thanks for stopping by ... and welcome to the blogosphere! The water gets hot in here sometimes....

As I mentioned in my post, either Chris Saxman or Bill Bolling would be great candidates.

Heck, I'm used to hot water btw.

Chris has not made a decision ... and the last I heard Bill had decided against senate. Perhaps that has changed?

You're an elected ... hot water is an occupational hazard of the job. ;)
