A light-hearted comedy from 1993, Dave is the story of a look-alike who steps in to make public appearances when American President Bill Mitchell goes into a coma. The movie was a gift from a cousin some years ago and is a keeper to watch on a regular rotation.
This is the movie with the line by the Secret Service agent who said at the end, "Dave, I would have taken a bullet for you."
It also has cameos of a number of DC politicos as well as many media-types including a very young Fred Barnes and Morton Kondracke. Filmed in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Richmond, Virginia, parts of this movie take place in the Virginia Capitol which doubles as the U.S. Capitol.
