It's late summer in the Shenandoah Valley and I took the opportunity to meet a friend for lunch at The Depot Grille, one of our favorite restaurants in the Wharf area of historic downtown Staunton.
It was a busy Friday at the Depot as many familiar faces were seen. Seated near our table were Harold and Don Reid of the Statler Brothers ... the two brothers lunched in familiar surroundings.
In another area of the restaurant was Augusta Supervisor Nancy Sorrells.
Del. Chris Saxman was there to meet friends but first stopped to visit with folks at tables including ours where he revealed he is leaving next week to go to the country of Gabon in Africa with a delegation supervising elections. Hope to have more details in a follow-up post.
Meanwhile, lunch was yummy, as always, and the atmosphere is always inviting. If you're in Staunton, check out The Depot Grille located at the railroad tracks in the train depot building. Follow the cobble stones to some of the finest dining in the Valley.
