Valley braces for big snowfall ... will we have a white Christmas?

Our spruce tree after snow two weeks ago.

Just two weeks after receiving 7-8" of snow, the central Shenandoah Valley is bracing for perhaps a larger snowfall over the weekend.

According to Staunton's AccuWeather forecast for the next five days (thanks to Connie for sending that over), predictions are for the largest snow event in some time with weathermen warning residents to prepare for upwards of 10-15" of the white stuff. Continued cold temperatures for the long-range forecast may make the snow stick around and possibly offer a white Christmas for the SWAC area.

WHSV TV-3 out of Harrisonburg has a weather warning on its website:
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for for the entire viewing area beginning Friday evening through late Saturday night. Heavy snow accumulations greater than five inches are expected. Snow will begin Friday night and continue through Saturday morning with temperatures in upper 20s or lower 30s.
It's the last weekend before Christmas so retailers are sure to take a hit ... and shoppers who have procrastinated may take a hit, too. Sales of milk and bread will be brisk Friday ... others may head out to try and get that Christmas shopping done.

Although the calendar says it isn't until next Monday, it's winter in the Shenandoah Valley....
