George Allen on the 4th: 'May we stand strong for Freedom'

Today George Allen released the following statement in honor of America’s 236th Independence Day:
“Americans in communities throughout our nation are gathering to celebrate the spirit of our Free country embodied in the Declaration of Independence.

“Thomas Jefferson immortalized our foundational principles in authoring our Declaration of Independence from the oppressive, arrogant and distant British monarchy. These principles endure in the continual thirst for Freedom:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

“These words have inspired each generation of Americans. And these principles are at stake this election – our God-given right to live, learn, work and raise a family free from unaccountable government mandates, excessive taxation and burdensome interference.

“America’s Independence was built on individual liberty – where people are free to chart their own course. It is our responsibility to continue to uphold these principles so that America remains a beacon of Freedom for generations to come.

“In the midst of our celebrations today with parades, cook outs and fireworks, let us remember that Freedom isn’t free. We remember, honor and thank those who served our country, those who paid the ultimate price to protect our Freedoms, as well as the many sacrifices of their families.

“May we stand strong for Freedom. And may God continue to bless America.”
