Todd Lake campground closed in George Washington National Park

The locked gate blocked access to Todd Lake and the campground. A signed said, "CLOSED. Due to a lapse in federal government funding, this facility is closed." The nasty word is covered in the hand-written message someone left on the sign.

Campers were set up in the forest including a group of horse owners with camp trailers and tents.

Early color can be seen in trees surrounding Todd Lake. Access to the beach area was closed. We often picnicked, cooked out, met up with friends, and swam here when our children were young.

A few hikers took advantage of the cool fall day.
