This is just wrong....

The White House excluded border governors who have the most skin in the game and may possibly have been able to add the most during a seminar on "Fixing the Broken Immigration System." The Washington Examiner has more....

LA social studies teacher took students to protest Arizona's SB 1070

Jose Lara, a social studies teacher in Los Angeles, took students to Phoenix to protest the Arizona immigration bill that follows the federal law. Donald Douglas has video and commentary over at American Power including this:
A video posted on YouTube shows LA social studies teacher Jose Lara interviewing teachers and students on May 28 at the headquarters of an organization calling for a Mexican revolution on U.S. soil. Soon after he shot the video, many in the group left for an overnight "freedom ride" to Phoenix to protest what Lara tells the camera is a "racist and outrageous" law.

Four days later, the school board president implored the superintendent of schools to ensure that students in the district be taught that Arizona's law is "un-American" and Jim Crow-like. The law, passed in April, empowers law enforcement officials to question the immigration status of people they think may be in the country illegally.
You may also want to check out the Fox News link. Donald went to Arizona to cover the rally and has fantastic photos of the day's events as he documented the protest of SB 1070.

Predictable

ACLU, NAACP, and Other Groups File Suit Against Arizona's SB 1070, writes Donald Douglas at American Power.

Predictable. And right on time....

China kills babies ... and Posner apologizes to China because we enforce our immigration laws??

Rush Limbaugh pointed out on his Monday radio show that the Obama administration apologized to China for human rights violations in America. Rush, paraphrasing the Chinese, said:
... "Look, you guys have a high crime rate, you have too much poverty. Don't lecture us on human rights, America! Don't lecture us. Look at you. You got a crime rate that's burgeoning, you got homelessness, you got poverty, and you got racial discrimination. So don't tell us. Don't lecture us about human rights." This guy Posner, on his own, brought up the Arizona immigration law and agreed with the ChiComs that it is a problem!
...
When Obama apologizes for this country around the world, it is a surprise that one of his peons would do the same thing? China has not apologized to us for anything. Nobody apologizes to us. We're out there apologizing to them. It's truly outrageous. The ChiComs shoot people dead who try to cross their border. Who in the world are we kidding here? We, from the responsible sectors of the media, have been attempting to warn the people of this country who it is that make up this regime and what their ideology is and what their attitudes about this country are.
Most are familiar with China's communist government and its lack of concern for human rights or what the rest of the world thinks of it.

Pundit and Pundette have another horror story from China about an aborted baby, thought dead, heard crying while waiting to be cremated:
An aborted baby declared dead by doctors in south China's Guangdong Province cried before he was due to be cremated, but died hours later as doctors refused to treat him.
Read the entire post ... you will be truly disgusted, saddened, and shocked at what is considered "normal" in China.

Tell me again about the "human rights" violations as we try to enforce our immigration laws....

Shenandoah County, VA ... public opinion on Arizona immigration law

As seen painted on the windows of a truck in Shenandoah County ... "This driver supports Arizona law." Polls show 70% of the American public support Arizona's immigration law. The includes at least one driver in the northern Shenandoah Valley.

DJ, Byron York, and the Arizona immigration law

DJ McGuire has what I consider a must-read post about the new Arizona immigration law and his reasons for holding back a bit before jumping in the opinion pool. I must say I agree with him about Byron York.

Examiner: "Arizona takes the cuffs off police"

Arizona is dealing with issues most of us will never know ... almost half a million illegal aliens living in the state, police murdered by illegals, citizens murdered by illegals, number two kidnapping capital in the world, drug cartel gangs, financial drain on emergency services and schools ... and the list goes on.

Well-known Arizona rancher Rob Krentz, whose family had owned their 35,000 acre ranch on the border with Mexico since 1907, was recently murdered by illegal aliens. Even the Minutemen, a kind of citizens watch group established five years ago to protect the border, have disbanded due to increased violence.

Are there any other countries in the world that are as lax in enforcing their immigration policies as America? Many countries are not as welcoming of outsiders as the U.S.; yet when the law of the land here is enforced, the immediate response is negative.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and state lawmakers decided enough was enough. With the United States government failing to protect the southern border, Arizona's only recourse was to put stronger teeth in its laws to protect its citizens. They are putting a finger in the dam and, quite frankly, doing the rest of America a favor.

In fact, polls show most Americans and the majority of those in Arizona agree with the new law, as reported in the blog Wake Up America.

Mark Tapscott at the Washington Examiner editorialized Arizona takes cuffs off police:
An estimated 460,000 illegal immigrants reside in Arizona, which has become a main entry point for thousands of drug smugglers, human traffickers, potential terrorists, and others who often commit violent crimes against innocent people and their property. To its credit, Arizona made several previous attempts to deal with the growing problem, with limited success. In 2005, human smuggling became a state crime. In 2007, employers were prohibited from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. But the invasion continued, and violent drug cartels have turned Phoenix into the kidnapping capital of the U.S.
Examiner columnist Cal Thomas writes Arizona takes off its "rainbow shades":
Arizona has decided that if the federal government will not live up to its responsibility to control the border, it will. Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican, signed a bill that allows police officers to inquire about a person's immigration status if there is reason to suspect that individual might be an illegal immigrant.

The governor correctly noted that the new law "represents another tool for our state to use as we work to solve a crisis we did not create and the federal government has refused to fix."
Not surprisingly, Mexico's president condemned the law. Mexico has enough issues of its own dealing with drug lords, crime, and poverty ... it appears hypocritical to criticize the U.S. for trying to protect her people.

Predictably, many in the MSM are on board with the naysayers. Media Research Center has been tracking media hypocrisy in their coverage of non-existent violence by tea party ralliers while ignoring actual violence by pro-illegal alien protesters in Arizona.

Save the Old Dominion featured in Waynesboro News Virginian

Save the Old Dominion, the group organized by blogger Black Velvet Bruce Li's Greg Letiecq, was featured on the front page of the Waynesboro News Virginian Thursday as well as coverage on Richmond's TV-6 newscast at noon on Wednesday.

The newspaper story started out:
Forces opposed to illegal immigration are laying plans to increase the heat on Virginia lawmakers who shot down a raft of immigration-related bills last session.

Part of the 2008 push will be driven by a coalition of seven primarily northern Virginia groups that previously limited their activism to their own back yards.

Greg Letiecq, president of Help Save Manassas and an organizer of Save the Old Dominion, said the coalition is intent on improving the 2007 session, which he said only saw one of 50 immigration bills emerge from the General Assembly.

“We have good coverage of several localities in northern Virginia and down in Hampton Roads. But someone concerned about this issue in Henry County, where do they turn?” he asked.

Coalition members include: Help Save Loudoun, Vienna Citizens Group, Help Save Hampton Roads, Centreville Citizens Coalition, Help Protect Culpeper, Save Stafford and Letiecq’s Manassas group.
Greg's group has received much positive press as they get the word out and grow as more groups join them.
