9/11 ... Have you forgotten?

"This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world."

President George W. Bush, September 11, 2001

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see our homeland under fire and our people blown away...
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going through a living hell....
Have you forgotten?

Never. I still get that sick feeling after all this time.

I do, too. Sitting at the keyboard working on my 9/11 tributes has brought me to tears because it doesn't take much for my memory to go back to that day....

Everything changed that day. Life became more intense, there was less time to waste, children and family were more precious, and our country was worth saving. And that's when I became absorbed in politics even though I had been volunteering for about two years at that point ... but there was an urgency after 9/11.

I still feel it....
