Texas coastal residents move inland to escape hurricane....

Checked in with the Texas sister this morning to be sure they were doing okay in Austin in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike's slam into the Texas coast. Austin is expecting wind and rain ... many from Houston and surrounding areas have taken refuge in the Austin area. Texas Niece's school closed two hours early Friday and is now being used for those from the coast who are seeking shelter.

The first film footage is coming in with massive damage in downtown Houston ... skyscrapers with blown-out windows and water damaged offices, flooded streets and interstate highways, trees across roadways, fires ... massive damage.

We've been following coverage all morning ... the Red Cross is asking for money, volunteers, and blood donors.

Meanwhile, my brother-in-law may not be going back to his Houston office anytime soon....
