Goodbye to Richmond's La Siesta Restaurant

Adios.

Sadly, the La Siesta Restaurant on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County will be closing its doors Saturday when the Zajur family moves on to other interests, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The restaurant was a staple when I lived in Midlothian as a young twenty-something. The Zajur parents had opened it in 1972 after moving to the U.S. from Mexico, and it is still in the hands of their family. But son and current manager George Zajur said he is tired of 14-hour days and wants more time with family.

They will continue to supply fresh salsa to Ukrop's supermarkets. Otherwise, they will be missed.

Adios, La Siesta.
