The wreath hanging on the mirror with the candle inside is a family heirloom passed down from my grandmother to my mom.
When my mom was a little girl, they had no electricity in their house so, when they finally did get electricity around World War II, my grandmother Mollie bought this one, simple wreath with the electric candle in the middle and hung it on their front door. It was the only illumination they had because there were no lights on the tree nor candles in the windows.
Today when we have so many lights and decorations, it seems a little difficult to realize that it wasn't that many years ago when Christmas was much simpler.
The dining room table was set for Christmas dinner. Most everything has been passed down through the generations.
