Live-blogging from Marriott with GOP ... # 13

They just announced the chairman of the McDonnell campaign, Ed Gillespie, who is addressing the crowd and thanking everyone for being here. He said updates will be given throughout the night and special guests will be speaking to the crowd.

He is now introducing Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, former RNC Chairman. He has received cheers and applause from the crowd. "Is this sweet or not?" he called out and the crowd shouted, "Yes!"

"You and Virginia have shown our country the right way to go after issues. Bob McDonnell is as good a candidate as I have ever worked with over the years and he is going to make a great governor the Commonwealth of Virginia. He knows what he believes and is comfortable with himself, is going to work on jobs and the economy and transportation. He's just what Virginians wanted and after last year a lot of people in America have come to the conclusion America is going in the wrong direction. Virginia is going to lead America in the right direction. We're going to elect Bob McDonnell as the new Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

(National Committeewoman Kathy Terry just stopped by and said hello.)

Now Ed Gillespie is back on stage introducing the next guest, a grassroots worker and GOP leader ... our chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia ... Pat Mullins. He is rallying the crowd. Tonight the Commonwealth of Virginia turns back to red, he said to a huge cheer.

Now Ed Gillespie is introducing the next speaker, a close friend who has worked closely with him to build the Party ... former MD Lt. Governor and current Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele who made Virginia a priority in this year's elections.

Steele: HELLO! (hello from crowd) How's everyone doing in Virginia tonight? (cheers) Thank you for knocking on the doors, making the phone calls, doing everything it took. Tonight you will have elected Bob McDonnell Governor of Virginia. Our Party is strong because of the fight ... the leadership ... the values ... you brought to the Party. Our Party's strong tonight because of the leadership of Haley Barbour ... because of friends like Ed Gillespie ... because of our grassroots who reminded the Party and leadership why we're Republicans in the first place -- that we care about wealth creation, wealth redistribution, less government. This was your fight, America ... you brought it home ... America has watched it, and freedom is alive tonight because of what you have done. I am humbled at what you have done. God bless Virginia and Bob McDonnell ... thank you for your work. Now let's watch the numbers roll in. (huge cheers)
