Calling Patriot Guard Riders and others ... honor mission for Vietnam veteran

My friend Chaz Evans-Haywood in Harrisonburg, who is the Assistant State Captain for District 8 of the Virginia Patriot Guard Riders, passed along the following urgent short notice confirmed honor mission for SGT. DONNY RAY MILLER, US Army Vietnam, for this Saturday, March 12, at Toms Brook, Virginia, in Shenandoah County, as 12:00 Noon. Details:
For VA/MD/WVA: The Patriot Guard Riders have been graciously invited to stand in honor of Vietnam Veteran, Sergeant Donny Ray Miller, on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

Mr. Miller was born in Woodstock, on January 14, 1941, a son of the late John William Miller Jr. and Eunice Jenkins Miller. Mr. Miller was a self-employed painter. Mr. Miller served in the US Army and received the following medals for his service: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal.

This will be a two stage mission.

1)  An escort by the PGR of the immediate family will occur to a private family only service.  Those wishing to ride will meet at the Loves Truck stop at Exit 291 located on Interstate I-81 in Shenandoah County.  This is the Toms Brook Exit.

Stage at 1200, ride brief 1215 and ready for kick stands up no later than 1230.  The family with Sgt. Miller's remains will join the escort en route to Toms Brook Cemetery located on Route 11 in Toms Brook.  Upon arrival at the cemetery a flag line will be formed so please have your 3x5 flags prepared.

2)  The PGR will then escort the family to St. Luke Brethren Church in Woodstock where a memorial service will be held beginning around 2:00 pm.  Those wishing to meet there will form a flag line.

RIDE CAPTAIN:  Ride Captain is Chaz Evans-Haywood (540.421-0052). Assistant RC will be Harry "Seabee40" Kern (540.810-5345).

Weather:  As of 3/10/2011 the Weather Channel is predicting temperatures in the low 60's with 0% chance of precipitation.  Many of the back roads in Shenandoah County still have gravel on the turns from the season's snow so please ride with caution.

If you are riding a bike/trike rigged with large flags, please make sure they are rigged strongly for highway speeds and/or inclement weather.

RIDE PROTOCOL FOR TRANSIT TO CEMETERY:

- Large (3x5) US Flags

Thank you for standing for those who stood for US.
