Matthew Fontaine Maury to be subject at Augusta County Historical Society

One of my favorite historical subjects while growing up in Virginia was Matthew Fontane Maury, the "Pathfinder of the Seas." His story stood out to this school girl as I read books about his life, and he is remembered by a huge anchor and plaque in Goshen Pass along the banks of the Maury River.

He will be the subject at the Augusta County Historical Society on Thursday, February 21, in  a program by Keith Gibson, historian and director of the Virginia Military Institute’s museum system. For more information check the article in the Augusta Free Press.
