My favorite part of The Homestead is the West Wing overlooking the historic Casino building that houses a restaurant and Christmas shop. Decorated outside with greenery and twinkly white lights, walk inside the doors and be transformed into a Christmas wonderland of greens, reds, and wintry whites.
The Casino was completed in 1895 and in that era the word "casino" was frequently applied to a building that was home to sports of all kinds. That was -- and still is -- The Casino's role. The original location of The Homestead Golf and Tennis Club, it serves today as the home to our renowned Golf Advantage School. The spacious room with high ceilings which now serves as our golf and tennis Pro Shop was originally an indoor badmitton court. The Casino continues to be a favorite rendezvous for a casual lunch as it has been for countless famous guests including President Dwight Eisenhower and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Let's see ... if I decided to shop for friends, this red high heel shoe ornament would be perfect for Andrea ...
... and the "It's 5 o'clock at the North Pole" cup would be great for a lot of people including my supervisor who once said is a BOS meeting to laughter from the crowd, "It's 5:00 somewhere."
What better gift for shoe maven Trixie than a plate full of shoes?
I call this the "sugar and spice and everything nice" tree.
Wintry and Christmasy ... perfect for the holidays.
What little girl on the planet wouldn't want something from this tree, even my own SWAC Daughter and SWAC Niece.
This is perfect for SWAC Husband. Heehee.
Love this throw pillow about negotiating ... perfect for Kurt ...
... and this sign would fit for a lot of people. LOL.
Flavored peppermint candy cane tea for Barb ...
... and colorful, festive entertainment helpers for lots of family members and friends who enjoy opening their homes during the holiday season.
Cheerful baking supplies would be just the ticket for the SWAC Sisters.
I miss having little ones to indulge at Christmas.
SWAC Husband had his eye on this Homestead apple butter.
Who would want something from the snowman tree? Me! And I know our Florida State University-Atlanta snow-loving Colin would think it's the best gift he's ever gotten. LOL.
Hey, SWAC Son -- want a Frosty hat?
Who needs a loveable, seasonal snowman for their front porch?
The fire pit outside the Casino is a popular spot at night with its roaring fire to ward off the cold December night temps.
