O'Keefe falsely accused of bugging phones

Liberals love to spin lies on the internet ... especially liberal lawyers posing as bloggers ... and the same holds true in the James "I Broke The ACORN Story" O'Keefe story.

From Rush Limbaugh:
James O'Keefe and another guy got caught in Mary Landrieu's office, and the original report in the Washington Post said that... O'Keefe is the guy who with the girl did the BigGovernment.com videos that blew the top off the ACORN scams. He was in there, and got caught in the phone room, and the Washington Post reported what he was doing was bugging the phone lines of Mary Landrieu. Then the police said, "No, no, no, that's not what he was doing. We don't quite know what he was doing, but he was not bugging it." [emphasis added]
Rush's theory makes sense:
These people have turned off their phones, or they're redirecting calls from constituents to go somewhere to a dead line, and then they're saying, "Our phones are jammed. Nobody can get through. We don't know what's wrong." I bet you... I don't know this. I'm just speculating. But I'll bet you O'Keefe and his buddy who posed as telephone repairmen were in there to try to find out if somebody had jimmied with the lines so that constituents could not call the office and complain.
...
I'm just wild guessing, but don't doubt me. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what O'Keefe was doing.
There's more to this story ... Newsbusters reported the media continue to falsely accuse O'Keefe of bugging the phones. Stay tuned....

Congress cuts ACORN $$$ ... will Virginia Dem candidates return donations?

ACORN has been proven to be a corrupt organization that has squandered taxpayer money and caused questions to be raised in Congress and, yet, Virginia Democrats have accepted donations from them. A check of VPAP shows the following:
Creigh Deeds - $200,000
Jody Wagner - $5,000
Steve Shannon - $21,500
Democrat Party Committees - $220,000
That a lot of tainted money. In fact, RPV Chairman Pat Mullins called on Democrats to return the money, saying:
"ACORN is a corrupt organization that has its finances closely intermingled with SEIU's finances. The right thing to do would be for all Democrats to return the tainted money as soon as possible."
A press release from the Republican Party of Virginia laid it out:
All Democrat Candidates Should Return ACORN-Tainted Money

- SEIU Contributions to Statewide, House Candidates at Issue -
- Nearly $525,000 Distributed Statewide to Democrats -

RICHMOND - Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins today expanded his call for Democratic candidates to return all contributions received from the Service Employees International Union, a big labor group closely affiliated with the scandal-plagued organization ACORN. Following up on his demand that all three statewide Democratic candidates return the campaign cash, Mullins noted that SEIU has contributed almost $525,000 to Democrats, including a number of candidates for the House of Delegates or other offices.

"ACORN is a corrupt organization that has its finances closely intermingled with SEIU's finances," Chairman Mullins said. "The right thing to do would be for all Democrats to return the tainted money as soon as possible."

The relationship between ACORN and SEIU is well-documented. The union's president, Andy Stern, sits on ACORN's advisory council. During the years 2006 and 2007, SEIU gave more than $4 million to the organization, according to Department of Labor filings.

More ACORN-SEIU Links:

1. One SEIU local union, the Illinois Homecare Workers and Home Childcare Providers, sprouted from ACORN's organizing efforts and pays rent to ACORN.

2. SEIU Locals 100 and 880 are identified as allied organizations on ACORN's website.

3. U.S. Department of Labor LM-2's (financial disclosure forms) point to over $600,000 in transactions between SEIU Locals 100 and 880 locals and other ACORN operations .

4. ACORN founder S. Wade Rathke referred to mega-union SEIU 880 as "one of the pillars of the ACORN Family."

5. Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Andy Stern handpicked ACORN's Rathke to direct SEIU's nationwide organizing projects.

ACORN, which bills itself as a "grassroots community organization," has been mired in scandal for some time. Already under investigation for fraudulently registering voters, the group has been rocked by recently released videos from across the United States showing ACORN employees " willing to abet prostitution, tax fraud, illegal immigration, and sex trafficking in minors ." In the wake of the scandal, Congress is moving to eliminate federal funding for ACORN, which has received $54 million in federal dollars since 1994.

SEIU/ACORN and Virginia Democrats - Perfect Together

Creigh Deeds $200,000
Jody Wagner $5,000
Steve Shannon $21,500
Democratic Party Committees $220,000
(Source: www.vpap.org )

"The only conclusion to be drawn from this pile of campaign cash is that Democrats running statewide and all across Virginia are beholden to the interests of a big labor union that is clearly in bed with ACORN," Mullins said. "These candidates should return this tainted money today."

ACORN investigation ... libs kill the messenger instead of researching the fraud

Does anyone -- anyone? -- pay attention to liberal Media Matters? They don't matter! They are supposed to be media watchdogs ... yet they doctor the tapes to make the story turn out the way they want?

An example is this post from Wizbang blog exposing MM's tactics of selective reporting in order to "prove" their accusations: Another Distortion and Attempt to Defend ACORN by Attacking the Messenger.

Case in point is Glenn Beck's airing of the undercover tape by the 20- and 25-year-old investigative reporters (doing the work of the former mainstream media who, when I was young, were the ones doing investigative reporting) in the continuing research into the corrupt ACORN group.

Media Matters apparently cut-and-spliced the tape to leave out pertinent points made by Glenn Beck in order to make him sound like a nut and enhance Media Matters' position that Beck didn't ask questions but made assumptions ... which he did not.

Read the post ... watch the video ... and then look at the portions that were cropped out of the video by the liberal Media Matters ...

... and mourn the fact that mainstream journalism is dead and there is no balanced investigative reporting anymore.

No wonder Fox News' ratings continue to go through the roof, beating out the competition over and over and over and over....

House votes to defund ACORN

The House voted today to defund the corrupt group ACORN:
The House has voted to deny all federal funding for ACORN, the community organizing group that has been caught up in several scandals.

The House action came several days after the Senate took a similar vote to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN.

Republicans, long critics of the liberal-leaning group that advocates for the poor, led the effort to cut off all federal funds.
Finally ... someone is paying attention.

Did NYT kill ACORN story to protect Obama campaign?

As more investigate ACORN, the story unravels as those inside the organization come forward asking questions, as ACORN fires and pushes out whistle-blowers, and as others including conservative Fox News talk show hosts Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck ask questions.

There are claims that, just as the ACORN story was coming to the surface before the November 2008 election, it was suppressed to protect the election chances of Barack Obama.

Powerline reports today on the New York Times' denial in killing the story to protect Obama ... and how the denial appears to help prove the point that they possibly did have a hand in being sure a "game-changer" situation did not occur:
In today's New York Times, Public Editor Clark Hoyt reveals the result of his investigation into the charge that the paper killed a story during the 2008 Presidential campaign in order to help Barack Obama. Hoyt concludes that the claim is "nonsense."
...
But the facts as related by Hoyt don't rebut the charge; they support it.
There are many questions about ACORN and it is a story waiting for an investigative reporter to pursue. Glenn Beck has been talking with ACORN insiders who have asked questions of their own and been thrown out ... people who were brave to come forward after beating their heads against a wall trying to find answers.

The many layers of ACORN ... stay tuned.

ACORN: What is CCI?

Citizens Consulting, Inc. ... follow the money. Many questions are being asked of ACORN ... voter registration questions, money questions, employees who asked for auditing and were fired ... it is all beginning to unravel.

Citizens Consulting, Inc. What is it ... and how is it connected to ACORN?

The questions are louder ... Glenn Beck is following the money. Stay tuned.
