From the "walk lockstep with me or I'll boycott" category

Both sides of the political aisle have their narrow-minded, "walk lockstep with me or I'll boycott" groups. This time it's the libs screaming about Target stores:

Target made a $150,000 donation on July 6 to a nonprofit, MN Forward. Six other Minnesota businesses, including Best Buy (BBY), followed suit with $100,000 gifts. MN Forward then ran an ad for Tom Emmer, an outspoken opponent of gay marriage who faces an Aug. 10 primary. The ad didn't mention Emmer's position on the issue, focusing instead on his opposition to taxes and spending.

Still, gay-rights advocates saw the donation as a betrayal by Target, which has long cultivated support among gays by, for example, providing health benefits to domestic partners and sponsoring Twin Cities Pride, an annual celebration. Since the contribution became public, as required under Minnesota law, calls for a boycott and other protests have mounted on YouTube (GOOG) and Facebook. "We feel betrayed," says Jeffrey Henson of Portland, Ore., who started an anti-Target Facebook group that has almost 40,000 followers. Protesters have also stood outside Target stores with placards denouncing the company.

Celebrities. We love them for their artistic ability ... and then they go and ruin it by opening their mouths and voicing their liberal opinions. Pat in Shreveport reports that Jimmy Buffett is the latest:

Oh for crying out loud, not Jimmy Buffett, too. Add him to my list of celebrities who have lowered my opinion of them by opening their mouths and uttering moonbat nonsense. The BP oil spill is all George Bush's fault.

I've been a long-time Parrothead but all I can say is "ditto" ... I agree with every word Pat writes. Read it all.

Update: Fishersville Mike has sage comments about this latest liberal to pile on George W. Bush. Meanwhile, Smitty at The Other McCain says, "Thanks, Buffett. The weather is here. Wish you were credible."

Buffet appears to have screwed up royally with his conservative fans. NewsBusters has the AP article that reveals backlash from Alabama residents and Buffett fans who want him to just shut up and sing and stop with the liberal, personal commentary.

Ditto.

I have my own question for Buffett: "How many bombs dropped on your head after 9/11?" Oh, that's right ... there have been none thanks to the strong leadership of George W. Bush at a time when terrorists attacked this country, killed 3,000 innocent people, and terrorized an entire nation.

I guess Buffett is still part of the generation that never grew up. Too bad. My Buffett music may have to be on hiatus for a while....

Sedition?

Time's Joe Klein accused Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck of "seditious" behavior.

Oh, really?

Staunton News Leader censorship?

Ah, the Staunton News Leader. They have been accused of censoring letters to the editor for years. Their left-slanted opinion is legend in these areas and is the reason many have abandoned the newspaper while others, including myself, have turned to the Waynesboro News Virginian. After three years, I am still very happy with the NV's fair-and-balanced reporting.

Yankee Phil had given the News Leader a fair chance over the years because he knew the publisher who is a neighbor. But he submitted a letter to the editor this week that had two whole paragraphs chopped off the end, and he's not happy.

And I'll tell you this: It takes a lot to get Phil upset because, as long as I've known him, this retired cop laughs quickly and angers slowly.

The NL changed the hard-hitting effectiveness of Phil's LTE, and he responded:

The worst part of the editorial was the last paragraph, concerning the comparison of the Tea Party movement to racism. The Democrat party is and has been the party that divides people by race. It is the home of Ku Klux Klanner Robert Byrd. It is the party of Jim Crow and Black Codes. It was Democrat Sen.Harry Reid who called President Obama " a light skinned" man without "a negro dialect". President Clinton said that President Obama would be fetching coffee for him and Ted Kennedy.

The very first Black, Mexican, and female members of Congress were all Republicans. It was the first Republican President who sent Americans to die to end the evil of slavery. It was a Republican who wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. It was Democrats who filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Acts. It was Republican Senator Everett Dirksen wrote the language for the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the 1968 Civil Rights Bill. A. Phillip Randolph, a Republican organized Republican Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's March on DC for his famous "I have a dream" speech. It is the Republican Party that wants people to be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

There is a word limit for the NL so not sure if that came into play but it sounds as if they may not have given Phil the opportunity to rewrite his LTE, a courtesy I have been offered by the NL in the past. Phil asked:

Weekend rally accusations by Left were wrong

Thank goodness for bloggers who track down a story when they feel it is unjustified. Such was the case after last weekend's rally on Capitol Hill when tea party folks were accused of racial slurs and even of spitting on a lawmaker.

Gateway Pundit has the latest proof it did not happen. Look at the photos ... read the proof ... and think about the reason any lawmaker would walk through a crowd of protesters when they normally use tunnels from office buildings to the Capitol.

Even after peaceful protesters denied it happened, the story continued. Were Democrats trying to bait the crowd? Taunt the crowd? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Sarah Palin and liberal hypocrisy

Marooned in Marin exposes one sane conservative going up against three hypocritical liberals:

Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs was on with Behar, the dancer Ron Reagan Jr., and liberal talk show host Stephanie Miller discussing the libs manufactured controversy about Sarah Palin's writings on her palm. I think it's fair to say that Geller herself brought the IQ level of the show into positive territory. Without her, Behar's show would have looked like a real life episode of Beavis & Butthead: three liberals making dumb cracks about Palin, who has more intelligence in one fingernail than Reagan, Miller & Behar have combined.

Geller exposed the contempt that liberal elites have for everyday Americans with their cracks at Palin's expense, as well as the hypocrisy of so-called feminists who attack Palin, while ignoring honor killings and mutilation of women's sexual organs.

Interesting definition of Ron Reagan, Jr.:

All Ron Reagan could do was dance around Geller's points like he was still wearing his tutu and ballerina shoes. He tried to speak for his father when, in reality, he represents nothing Ronald Reagan stood for. In fact, Ron Reagan Jr. (like his sister, Patty) has spent most of his adult life acting as a useful idiot for the same liberals who regularly mocked the 40th President of the United States as a dunce, a warmonger, a racist and many other negative slurs.

Green Police? No Audi for me

The "Green Police" Audi ad aired during Sunday's Super Bowl game was scary because, at the rate we're going, that could be America in the years ahead.

To know it was being aired to convince me to buy an Audi was counterproductive for that automobile company. A lot of the "green" propaganda falls in the same column with the "global warming" propaganda, in my opinion. And apparently I'm not alone because other conservative bloggers said the same thing.

However, some liberal bloggers loved the ad including Eileen at VB Dems who said, "Love this Super Bowl Ad!"

Green is mainstream – as evidenced by this funny ad run during last night’s Super Bowl. If only this conscientiousness would infiltrate Virginia Beach’s Parks and Rec department where all those gazillion plastic water bottles are tossed in the trash and not recycled.

She then wondered if the Green Police could arrest the mayor at his "fancy" office building.

The premise of the ad is not the premise of America where we believe in personal freedom. If libs are so concerned about green, they may want to check out the rest of the world where they would get their heads chopped off for sticking their noses into someone else's business.

Scott Lee of the Lee Brothers blog summed it up well:

Actually, it might just be a view into what the radical Left has in store for us! Banning plastic bags, forced recycling, and legislation to demand certain light bulbs is just the beginning! Not a good commercial, it made me mad!

Talk about overbearing, overreaching government ... this ad fed it all.

Phil thought the ad was overreaching. Mike hated it, too. Bob said to count him as part of the "creeped-out" group.

Remember this novel written in 2004 with a plot to assassinate President George W. Bush?

In Nicholson Baker's new novella, "Checkpoint," a man sits in a Washington hotel room with a friend and talks about assassinating President Bush.

It's a work of the imagination and no attempts on the president's life are actually made, but the novel is likely to be incendiary, as with Michael Moore's documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11."

... Alfred A. Knopf is planning to publish Baker's work Aug. 24, on the eve of the Republican National Convention. "Checkpoint" is 115 pages long and will sell for $18.

Though it is against the law to threaten the president in real life, a work of fiction is usually protected by the First Amendment.

Spare me the faux outrage of the left ... they made the blueprint.

ACORN investigation ... libs kill the messenger instead of researching the fraud

Does anyone -- anyone? -- pay attention to liberal Media Matters? They don't matter! They are supposed to be media watchdogs ... yet they doctor the tapes to make the story turn out the way they want?

An example is this post from Wizbang blog exposing MM's tactics of selective reporting in order to "prove" their accusations: Another Distortion and Attempt to Defend ACORN by Attacking the Messenger.

Case in point is Glenn Beck's airing of the undercover tape by the 20- and 25-year-old investigative reporters (doing the work of the former mainstream media who, when I was young, were the ones doing investigative reporting) in the continuing research into the corrupt ACORN group.

Media Matters apparently cut-and-spliced the tape to leave out pertinent points made by Glenn Beck in order to make him sound like a nut and enhance Media Matters' position that Beck didn't ask questions but made assumptions ... which he did not.

Read the post ... watch the video ... and then look at the portions that were cropped out of the video by the liberal Media Matters ...

... and mourn the fact that mainstream journalism is dead and there is no balanced investigative reporting anymore.

No wonder Fox News' ratings continue to go through the roof, beating out the competition over and over and over and over....

Random conservative encounters

Had a meeting this morning with two local Tea Party ladies who are helping to coordinate the bus trip to Washington, DC, on September 12 for the National Taxpayer Protest. When I returned to my vehicle, the car parked next to me had a bumper sticker that said:

SOCIALISM ISN'T COOL
Americans for Prosperity -- Virginia

It was a great bumper sticker and good to see AFP represented in Staunton. I took one of my business cards and wrote on the back that we had buses leaving Staunton heading to DC on September 12 for the nationwide tea party and invited this anonymous person to join us.

When I returned home, there was an email from the gentleman who is a local businessman. He said he would like to go but would be out of state that weekend but asked to be kept in the loop.

I called Ben Marchi, Virginia State Director of Americans for Prosperity, and caught him as he was driving to Roanoke for the AFP Hot Air Balloon tour event later today, and told him about the bumper sticker on a vehicle in a parking lot ... wanted to let him know AFP is really making inroads and it was neat to see one of their bumper stickers locally.

It was a random conservative encounter ... reaching out to like-minded Americans ... but not the last, I'm sure.

Hypocritical media

The hypocrisy of the left continues today:

The Federal Communications Commission will review complaints it receives over the on-camera gutter talk of anchors for CNN and MSNBC that came as they condemned the tea party movement in which hundreds of thousands of Americans met on Tax Day to protest not just taxes but a runaway government digging the nation into trillions of dollars in debt.

WND reported earlier on a series of vile comments from CNN's Anderson Cooper, who made repeated "teabagging" references, and MSNBC's David Shuster, who said, "Teabagging day for the right wing and they are going nuts for it."

"Tea-bagging" is known in the homosexual subculture as a practice involving a particular form of oral sex.

Several liberal bloggers have professed "outrage" over Shepherd Smith's slip of the "f" word ... yet join in or ignore the gutter talk from their own media ranks surrounding the tea party comments.

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell released a statement asserting the coverage of the tea parties was biased and the language egregious. He also called on CNN – and fellow news station MSNBC, whose hosts made "tea-bagging" jokes even more explicit – to apologize.

"Now the news isn't just biased, it's R-rated," said Bozell. "MSNBC and CNN both allow this vulgar attack-journalism to go out on their airwaves without blinking an eye and without any sign of guilt. It appears neither woeful bias nor lowly crassness on their airwaves bothers them a bit."

Double standards and hypocrisy ... the media continue to denigrate Americans.
