Conservative leaders rising up from tea party movement

The tea party movement has grown nationwide with thousands of events that eventually led to the 9/12 March on Washington three weeks ago when over 1 million conservatives converged on Washington, DC, to send a message to their elected representatives.

That movement may be a bit unorganized at the moment but, as RedState's Erick Erickson opined in the Washington Examiner, leaders are rising from the ranks of the tea party organizations:
We should not look at the tea party movement and the voices surrounding it as shrieking voices of populist sentiment devoid of substance. They give voice to the instinctual level, or gut, of the conservative conscience.

What we see across the country are more and more people standing up realizing the direction we are headed is wrong. They are unorganized. They are unfocused. But they do not lack a “connection to a concrete ideology,” they just are not skilled or trained in the ideology.

There is no greater conservative sentiment than “stop.” Bernard Bailyn’s influential The Ideological Origins of the American Revolution laid out how conservative the American Revolution was.

The popular messages of “freedom” and “liberty” were not slogans of propaganda put forward by the 18th century equivalent of a 501(c)(4), but were very real and meaningful to the colonists on the street and in the fields.

While no one should expect a revolution against government from the tea parties, we should expect and hope for a revolution in conservative thought and an upheaval of at least the Republican Party as the tea party activists start putting down their protest signs and picking up campaign signs. Then, perhaps, they will move on to taking over their local political party.
Out of the conservative movement are rising leaders of the future.

Passionate caller to Rush Limbaugh

In the 2:00 hour of the Rush Limbaugh radio show today, an impassioned woman called and was so articulate that it stopped me in my tracks as I cleaned house. Susan in Glendale's passion nailed the anger and frustration of the "little people" in this nation ... the ones who pay the salary of the electeds but feel powerless against a government that is not listening.

This woman lives in California and is "represented" by Barbara Boxer. As a mother of seven, she expressed what many would like to say. Rush Limbaugh has put up the transcript of the call and the link to listen to it.

I have seen hundreds of thousands of patriots with her passion and emotion over the past eight months. It does not seem to be dying away ... it seems to be growing.

We will remember in November 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012....

Left continues to disparage conservatives

Erick Erickson at RedState posts this morning that he has arrived. Disseminating information about townhall meetings and other conservative news apparently makes him part of the "right-wing" internet information network, lumped in with Sean Hannity, Chuck Norris, Glenn Beck, and Rick Perry by the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center:
Every month, there are militia trainings announced around the country — and untold numbers that are not publicized. The Internet teems with training videos, information about meetings and rallies, far-fetched rumors and conspiracy theories.
In "Going Mainstream," the SPLC wrote:
A remarkable aspect of the current antigovernment movement is the extent to which it has gained support from elected officials and mainstream media outlets. Lawmakers complaining about the intrusiveness of the federal government have introduced 10th Amendment resolutions (reasserting that those powers not granted to the federal government remain with the states) in about three dozen states. In Texas, Gov. Rick Perry raised the prospect of secession several months after Obama's inauguration — a notion first brought up there in the '90s by the militia-like Republic of Texas. U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said she feared that the president was planning "reeducation camps for young people," while U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), evoking memories of the discredited communist-hunter Sen. Joseph McCarthy, warned of 17 "socialists" in Congress. Fox News host Glenn Beck, who has called Obama a fascist, a Nazi and a Marxist, even re-floated militia conspiracy theories of the 1990s alleging a secret network of government-run concentration camps.

The original movement also had its mainstream backers, but they were largely confined to talk radio; today, Beck is just one of the well-known cable TV news personalities to air fictitious conspiracies and other unlikely Patriot ideas. CNN's Lou Dobbs has treated the so-called Aztlan conspiracy as a bona fide concern and questioned the validity of Obama's birth certificate despite his own network's definitive debunking of that claim. On MSNBC, commentator Pat Buchanan suggested recently that white Americans are now suffering "exactly what was done to black folks." On FOX News, regular contributor Dick Morris said, "Those crazies in Montana who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents because the U.N.'s going to take over' — well, they're beginning to have a case."

At the same time, players like the National Rifle Association, which in the 1990s publicly attacked federal law enforcement agents as "jackbooted thugs," are back at it. Two months before the election last fall, firearms manufacturers joined forces to promote NRA membership in a national campaign ominously dubbed "Prepare for the Storm in 2008."

Patriot ideology also has crept into the anti-tax "tea parties" that were staged by conservatives around the country in April and July.
The majority of tea party participants are not "anti-tax" but are, instead, responsible tax and responsible spending.
In addition to protesting government spending and taxation, some demonstrators called for the sovereignty of the states, abolition of the Federal Reserve (a long-time bogeyman of the radical right), and an end to "socialism" in Washington. At the Jacksonville, Fla., July tea party, some protesters carried signs that compared President Obama to Adolf Hitler.
The left zeroed in on those few signs and not the thousands of other signs that addressed less government and less spending.
The recent Department of Homeland Security report also pointed to the role of the Internet in the current movement: "Unlike the earlier period, the advent of the Internet and other information-age technologies since the 1990s has given domestic extremists greater access to information related to bomb-making, weapons training and tactics, as well as targeting of individuals, organizations and facilities, potentially making … the consequences of their violence more severe."
Fear-mongering from the left continues with help from the SPLC....

Conservative grassroots resurgence

Donald has a very well thought-out and thorough post at American Power about the resurgence of the conservative grassroots in America including this comment:
We are in the midst of a glorious grassroots conservative comeback. The "moderate" conservatives have made common cause with the left's communist establishment to excoriate concerned citizens protesting for a return to limited goverment and political effectiveness. The real crazies in America are those at the center-left who've been hoodwinked by "Hope and Change" and are now implicated in the attempted radical takeover of the United States.
Conservative Americans are justifiably angry and responding by turning out for nationwide tea parties, local protests against tax hikes, and the national 9/12 March on Washington. Look for the movement to continue and grow as Democrats turn a deaf ear to the people.

Dick Armey (R-TX) leading taxpayer march in DC

Thousands are heading to Washington, DC, on September 12 ... and Dick Armey couldn't be happier:
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey is organizing a march on Washington against the Obama administration’s healthcare plan that he hopes will finally finish off the Democratic push for socialized medicine.

The march, organized by Armey’s political group FreedomWorks, is scheduled for Sept. 12 and is already generating hundreds of thousands of responses, the Texas Republican tells Newsmax.TV. The group isn’t providing transportation, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem.
Join buses from the Shenandoah Valley or Richmond or other places around the country and make your voice heard on September 12, 2009.

Electeds calling cops on citizens?

It happened right here in Virginia when Charlottesville police were called by someone to remove 60 protesters from outside the office of Rep. Tom Perriello (D-5th CD) and also at his office in in Danville.

Now police have done the same at Sen. Dianne Feinstein's Los Angeles office. On Friday a small group of retirees aged 55-87 showed up with concerns about ObamaCare. The retirees waited in a conference room for six hours to talk with the senator to no avail. Reportedly the police lured them outside, then locked the doors making it impossible for them to return.

American Power's Donald Douglas reports on townhall participants shouting down Arlon Spector and Kathleen Sebelius at a Philadelphia meeting ... Atlas Shrugs reports on the same townhall meeting.

Dan Maloney was boots-on-the-ground in New York when Congressman Tim Bishop arrived to see hundreds of protesters at a townhall meeting in June when constituents demanded answers to questions.

World Net Daily reports today about the grassroots movement that is motivated and showing up to confront their representatives in Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, California ... it is happening across the nation.

Voters were lured into "hope-and-change" last year by a political Pied Piper named Barack Obama. Many are now waking up ... but is it in time? Jerry has more at From On High.

Sept. 12: Tea Party march on Washington

Tea parties are being held around the country on July 4 ... check here for locations, dates, and times ... building momentum for the national tea party to be held September 12, 2009, in Washington, DC:
We’ve had enough of the out of control spending, the bailouts, the growth of big government and the soaring deficits. And we reject the future tax increases to pay for all of this spending and debt down the road. We are gathering on 9-12-2009 to deliver our message in person that we’ve had enough!
The far left ... Janeane Garofalo, Keith Olbermann, Nancy Pelosi and the mainstream media ... have laughed us off or called us derogatory names. But we know that this is because they fear this grassroots movement against the growth of government, and the debt, deficits and taxes that are bankrupting our country.

This July 4th and September 12th, we will send a powerful message to them, to the U.S. Congress, and to the president that we are a force more powerful than anything they ever expected.

NY: Citizens protest Congressman & tax increases

The New York Gathering of Eagles joined hundreds of other patriots to jam a townhall meeting held by Congressman Tim Bishop, asking questions to hold him accountable:

Last night we joined with Patriots from the Conservative Society for Action and a number of other groups to send a very clear message to Congressman Tim Bishop that the days of socialist nirvana have come to a screeching halt. Hundreds of fed up constituents swarmed his Town Hall meeting in Setauket, Long Island, to let him know that they are Taxed Enough Already and they did not appreciate a Nancy Pelosi clone representing them in Congress.

So many people showed up that the parking facilities at the Setauket Community House was filled to overflowing and all available on-road parking was taken up for blocks around. By the time Bishop arrived he had to park three blocks away and run the gauntlet of Tea Party protesters! The look on his face was priceless as he finally got to the hall.
Sounds similar to the Augusta County uprising by citizens in March when 1,000 turned out for the Board of Supervisors meeting to protest inflated real estate assessments.

Americans are taking it to the streets to stand up for their rights. Check out the website for video of the protest and details of the meeting.

It's your country ... elected officials are your public servants and work for you ... Barack Obama does not speak for at least half the population of this country ... so stand up for your rights!

Could this happen in America?

In America, Democrats led by President Barack Obama are jamming tax increases, stimulus bills, bailouts, out-of-control spending, and an upcoming universal health care program down the throats of hard-working Americans. As Obama pushes his socialism agenda and as tea party tax protests continue to grow, one has to wonder while watching the protestors in Iran if that could happen in America.

We are a nation simmering with discontent. It crosses all political and socioeconomic lines as demonstrated by this letter from a former Democrat who just wants to see someone in leadership ... lead.

With many tea parties planned for the 4th of July weekend ... and with the national tea party tax protest planned for Washington, DC, on September 12, one has to wonder if we could have hundreds, thousands, millions take to the streets of America....

Is DC getting the message over "tax-and-spend" outrage?

Property tax revolts in Augusta County, other Virginia counties, and other states ... nationwide tea parties protesting rising taxes ... California voters soundly defeating new taxes even in the face of bankruptcy.

Is D.C. getting the message over "tax-and-spend" outrage?

Apparently not.

The Obama administration is drunk with power and out of control even as the anger over higher taxes is going national. A fawning media give a pass as the country sinks deeper into debt.

Neil Cavuto's Friday "Common Sense" makes much sense in the face of a White House that is gobbling up auto companies, banks, and directing cred card companies in what they can and cannot do:
My boss has a great line that I’ve often repeated and just love: We all live in our own heads.

But with respect to my boss, it just seems in Washington, their heads are lodged in a very dark place — no need to be graphic, but time to get real.

Because what else could explain a nation's capital that totally ignores the revolution unfolding in California’s capital? Where they're cutting spending like crazy after voters in that state went crazy and told them to stop spending, stop taxing, stop playing the same old games.

But looking around in Washington, nothing's stopped. Not the taxing, or the spending, or the ignoring, or the thinking, "We know better than our clueless subjects know."

So they merrily go on thinking in their heads that they're doing just fine. Clinging to election results from half a year ago. And insisting they've got a mandate — totally ignoring election results in California half a week ago and forgetting what they've got now is a manhole... and they're sinking into it.

It's one thing to be half-baked. But another to push spending that's proven half-ass.

But you wouldn't know that, would you, Washington? Your big head just doesn't fathom half-ass. No wonder. It's not that your head can't see it. The darn thing's just wedged too far up it.
Neil Cavuto, Fox News Channel's business guru, is a man who is measured in his blame ... and, thus, his words carry even more weight.

Obama's bluff called by tea party patriots

Doug Powers posted on Michelle Malkin's blog today about Barack Obama's "call-out" to tea party patriots on Wednesday:
President Obama said the following at a town hall meeting/100th day in office sermon:
“Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I’m not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around," Obama said, “let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”
Strange that Obama could so easily reference something he was unaware of, but nonetheless, tea party organizers are taking the president up on the offer (they say “accepted his offer” because “called his bluff” sounds too harsh for hope):
The National Leadership Team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition today accepted President Obama's invitation “to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”
...
You’ll notice how the entire tea party movement is being dismissed as a Fox News stunt, which anyone who’s followed this since the beginning knows is a complete pile of Pelosi. As a matter of fact, didn’t this whole thing, at least in part, get rolling because of Santelli’s “rant” on CNBC?
...
Thanks though to the president for helping boost attendance on July 4th even higher than it would have otherwise been.

Tea Party Americans

Don't you just love the way some liberals are trying to rewrite history as far as the Tax Day Tea Parties go? A greater success has never been seen from Americans -- Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent -- who took to the streets in the largest tax protest ever in the history of the U.S.A.

That leaves liberals with the job of spinning the story to try and make others believe the highly successful tea parties were a bust and a bad PR move.

Instead, Americans' eyes have been opened. More nationwide tea parties are planned for the Fourth of July ... a national tea party is being talked about in Washington, DC, in September.

Here is how SWAC blogger Bob at The Journey described the tea party movement while joking that his teleprompter did not tell him to say this:
With terrorism redefined as a 'man-caused disaster' and G-d fearing Patriots redefined as 'right wing extremists' the Grassroots has their work cut out for them. Not that they aren't up to the task if the recent Tea Parties are any indication.

And here's the real beauty of it. Fox DIDN'T cause it. Michael Steele COULDN'T. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Mark Levin can only feed it. It is a movement of, by and for THE PEOPLE!
