9/11 ... it's been rainy and dreary all day, almost as if the sky is weeping at the remembrance of a day that changed America. I sat outside on the porch for a long while as the rain came down, rocking and remembering and letting my thoughts wander....
For some reason this anniversary of 9/11 has been sadder than previous ones and, ironically, those I've talked with today have felt the same way. Maybe it's the hate-filled atmosphere in our country at a time of war. Emails and phone calls have come in throughout the day from friends and family members....
It's a time to cling to those you love.
Tonight the SWAC crew will get together and honor one of our own who was in the middle of New York City as one of the city's finest -- a proud member of the NYPD -- six years ago.
Phil, the beer's on us!
Never forget.

See, for the most part, we get the best Yankees as immigrants to God's Country - our Commonwealth.
That's absolutely the truth with Phil! He and his family have contributed to our community ... and he was an eye-witness to the worst attack ever on American soil.
We all went out tonight and we toasted him and thanked him and those like him for their service, dedication, and sacrifice in protecting the homeland ... the first responders.
I agree with your post.
However, I must ask...
If you deplore the "hate-filled atmosphere in our country at a time of war", then why do you perpetuate it? Saying things like "It's the Jihad stupid! Democrats just don't get it" only widens the divide in our country.
Personally, I find using the war for political gain from both sides to be deplorable. But both sides do engage in it.
I will say this one ... more ... time.
"It's the Jihad, Stupid!" is a take-off of Bill Clinton's campaign slogan that said, "It's the economy, Stupid!" Bill Clinton -- the DEMOCRAT.
However, anyone who thinks we're at fault in this war or that we can make peace with terrorists has their head stuck in the sand so the saying seems appropriate ... and will continue to be used.
I'm not sure what part of "They want to KILL us" you and others don't understand. Our national security is more important than anything else. Without national security nothing else would exist. WE ... ARE ... AT ... WAR.
Where did i say i was against the war? You seem to make some assumptions about me that I don't understand.
Terrorists attacked our country. Over 3,000 people died. We are at war. People seem to have forgotten all that. And you question a banner that has tried to shake people out of their complacency....
i don't have a problem with your banner. its your site, you can say whatever you want.
i was just commenting on the fact that you seem really bothered by the hate-filled atmosphere in the country in a time of war, yet you seem to contribute to it by posting a polarizing comment. i don't care one way or another, i'm not a democrat, so it doesn't offend me.
Your concern comes across as shallow considering what we're up against ... but that's your opinion. Thanks for stopping by.
