Watch House floor discussion live -- UPDATE: "Tebow Bill" PASSED 59-39

UPDATE: On a vote of 59-39, the Tebow Bill (HB 947) sponsored by Del. Rob Bell PASSED today in the Virginia House of Delegates, an historic vote for a bill that has never made it past the House Education committee in the past.

Thank you to Del. Rob Bell (R-Albemarle) for sponsoring and standing by this bill, and thank you for Gov. Bob McDonnell for his support and encouragement as well as Victoria Cobb and the Family Foundation, Home Educators Association of Virginia (HEAV), and the Organization for Virginia Homeschoolers.

Thanks also to homeschoolers from across the Commonwealth who took time to phone, email, and personally contact their delegates to ask that they vote YES on this bill.

Our work is not done. HB 947 now crosses over to the Senate side of the Capitol where it faces a much tougher government body. With the Senate evenly divided, homeschoolers have their work cut out for them as they begin to make phone calls and send emails to their state senators. For me, that means contacting Sen. Emmett Hanger to ask that he vote YES.

End of Update
