Virginia Tech is playing UVA

Virginia Tech's football game began at noon today ... and my step-dad is parked in front of the TV watching his alma mater play play the University of Virginia.

As we put up the Christmas tree and decorate the house, we are mindful to not disturb him as he watches his beloved Hokies on this late November afternoon.

Shhh! Virginia Tech football is on. Go, Hokies!

VT, Appalachian State win....

Virginia Tech wins: You couldn't have pried my step-dad (VT class of 1948) away from the TV yesterday as he watched the Virginia Tech game in his Richmond-area home. His beloved Hokies won their season opener 17-7. Go Hokies!

Appalachian State wins: It was great to see Appalachian State University win over Michigan 34-32. ASU is in Boone, NC. I lived near there for a number of years and spent much time in that area. Friends and family have attended there, and now children of friends attend that fine university set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern NC. Go Mountaineers!

The weather for both games was perfect ... cooler temps, clear skies, low humidity. Those who traveled to the mountains for games at VT or ASU were treated to perfect football weather.
