In memoriam....

It was a year in the making ... from idea ... to proposal by Delegate Steve Landes ... to legislation ... to completion ...

... the naming of two bridges in Augusta County after two area young men who died in Iraq. The dedication was held while I was away so, while I'm late in paying tribute, I didn't want to overlook it all together.

The Rt. 608 bridge over I-64 was named the "Lance Corporal Jason Redifer Memorial Bridge" in memory of Augusta County native Jason Redifer, 19, a Marine killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom on January 31, 2005.
The Rt. 256 bridge over I-81 at Weyers Cave was named the "Lance Corporal Daniel Scott Resner Bubb Memorial Bridge" in memory of Augusta County native Daniel Bubb, 19, a Marine killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom on October 17, 2005.
Sadly, since the naming of the bridges was put into motion, another Augusta County Marine was lost. On February 14, 2007, Lance Corporal Daniel Morris, 19, was killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
We owe a debt of gratitude to these young men and their families for the sacrifices they have made for our freedoms. May God bless them all.
Semper Fi.
