Spring happenings in SWAC area

It is going to be gorgeous today in the Shenandoah Valley ... sunny, mid-70s ... the grass is green, trees are blooming, flowers are beautiful. It's the perfect time to spend a day or two relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Blue Ridge, Alleghanies, and the Valley.

Waynesboro's Fly Fishing Festival is going on today and tomorrow from 9 am until 5 pm at Constitution Park on the banks of the South River. Daily fee is $15 per person; children under 16 are free. Wine tasting, fly fishing demonstrations, lectures, and hands-on activities.

Rockfish Gap Outfitters in Waynesboro (at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the shadow of the Skyline Drive) is having a big anniversary sale on spring and summer clothing, camping gear, and bicycles. They are located on Rt. 250 about two miles west of the top of Afton Mountain. Open daily 10 am to 6 pm; Sunday Noon to 5 pm.

Waynesboro artist P. Buckley Moss will be at her home, The Barn, April 24-26 for sales and signings. Located at 150 P. Buckley Moss Drive, Waynesboro, VA, take Exit 94 off I-64. Phone (800) 343-8643 for more information or check out the P. Buckley Moss website.

Augusta County's Spring Clean-Up is April 18-25 with extended landfill hours (Mon-Sat, 8 am-5 pm). This is your opportunity to get rid of those items the landfills normally will not take such as old tires (limit 12), motor oil, transmission oil, diesel fuel, hydraulic oil, lead-acid batteries, and antifreeze. Old TVs and computer equipment will be accepted on April 18 & 25. No fee will be charged to leave appliances at the Augusta Regional Landfill, Deerfield Community Center, and the Augusta Springs, Crimora, Greenville, Mt. Solon, and New Hope dumpsters.

Dayton Farmers Market is open until 6 pm today for yummy big soft pretzels, homemade candy and baked goods, jerky, bulk goods, coffee, lunch or dinner, gifts, and much more. Located on Rt. 42 south of Harrisonburg.

It's spring in the Shenandoah Valley....
