Deeds scared to be on debate stage with McDonnell?

After a bizaar request from Creigh Deeds to not appear on stage with Bob McDonnell for their Tuesday "debate" at Virginia Union University, we get an update from Yankee Phil that, in a nutshell, sums it up:

McDonnell, Deeds make pitches at Virginia Union.

Both Candidates appeared at the university, even though Creigh Deeds was afraid to be seen on the stage with Bob McDonnell.

McDonnell said he shares President Barack Obama's support for charter schools, which operate largely independent of a central bureaucracy, as a way to revive urban educational systems.McDonnell said later that, while there is a Democratic tradition among blacks, "I'm not writing one vote off."
