Jeremy Wiggins explains why the insult to Poland was even more insulting:
In what could only be the most awkward of days to tell Poland that we are in fact NOT building a missile defense net in their backyard, today our President has put our ally on hold. Why? In order to appease Russia, the bully of the world.Ouch.
Yes, today is the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by Russia.
Does this president have anyone doing background research for him? Or are these insults intentional on his behalf? Mr. Wiggins continues:
For those of us who aren't up to date on our Polish history, let's take a quick backward glance before looking forward.Double ouch.
In 1939, the Soviet Union had tried to form an alliance against Germany, but one of the conditions was that Poland and Romania allow Soviet troops transit rights through their countries. The negotiations failed, so the Soviets formed a non-aggression treaty with Nazi Germany. On 1 September, the Germans invaded Poland from the west, and 16 days later the Soviets invaded from the east. The Soviet government declared that the 13.5 million Polish citizens were now Soviet citizens. Thousands were executed, and 320,000 were deported to Siberia between 1939 and 1941.
So now we can see why the Polish people would be a little angry. But what does this mean for our future? This is also an act of appeasement for Iran, with Joe "Gaffe" Biden saying that Iran really isn't all that big of a threat. Try telling that to Israel, who is constantly being threatened by Iran with extinction. No big threat, I guess. I mean, nuclear annihilation isn't really that big of a deal. And since Russia and Iran are such good friends, they would NEVER think of something like wiping Israel out, right?
Frankly, all we have done for the sake of appeasing Russia and Iran, is tell two of our allies that we really don't care what happens to them, as long as the rest of the world likes us.
This is our security we're talking about, folks. This president is going after the CIA, tying the hands of American soldiers and Marines fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, releasing terrorists from Guantanamo, ignoring our reliable worldwide allies....
Do you feel safe now?
It's days like this when I wish I could have my head in the clouds, watch something frivolous on TV, and not care.
However, it was just a week ago today when a million conservative Americans marched on Washington to show we do care.
Only 3 1/2 more years to go before we can replace this president. We must make change in Congress in 2010.
I hope our country survives.
