Paraglider runs into neighbors' scorn in Augusta County

Drew Richardson spent his career in the FBI fighting the bad guys before retiring to the rural byways of Augusta County.

Now he wants to fly his paraglider from his 50-acre spread in southern Augusta County but, like others before him, he has run into the ire of farmers who surround his property. They are complaining that the aircraft disturbs their livestock, something the Rocket Boys ran into in the southwestern corner of the county when they were denied future use of the 500-acre property used to launch model rockets.

The Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Thursday at 1:30 where the Richardson case is on the agenda to decide if a special use permit will be issued. It was tabled at the June meeting. Seems those wanting to take to the skies over Augusta County have more people to answer to than the BZA.
