Civil War 150 Legacy (Document Digitization) Scanning Event
Staunton Public Library
(Friday-Saturday, August 5-6, 2011)
The Virginia Sesquicentennial Commission and the Library of Virginia have partnered to create a state-wide online collection of original Civil War documents and photographs that remain in private hands. The project focuses on materials created from 1859-1867 that reflect social, political, military, business and religious life in Virginia during the Civil War era. The Library of Virginia is sending teams of archivists to scan privately-held materials for inclusion in the project. The next scanning event in the Shenandoah Valley will be held at the Staunton Public Library on August 5-6. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, contact Melissa Davidson at (540) 332-3902 or via email. More information about the Civil War 150 Legacy Project can be found here.
