Gov. Bob McDonnell to chair National Governors Association legal affairs committee

Press release from Gov. McDonnell's office....

RICHMOND – The National Governors Association announced today that Governor Bob McDonnell will chair the Legal Affairs Committee for the 2011-2012 year. Additionally, he will serve on the Special Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety as well as the Education, Early Childhood and Workforce Committee.

Speaking about today’s announcement, Governor McDonnell commented, “I am honored to have been appointed chair of the Legal Affairs Committee. This is an important time for governors as we become more and more involved in policy discussions at the federal level and I look forward to advising the executive committee on these efforts.

"It is critical that governors stay involved in the important decisions being made in Washington, DC that directly impact our states. I am also going to continue my service on the Special Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety as well as the Education, Early Childhood and Workforce Committee. Both of these committees handle issues that are part of some of the most important discussions going on nationwide today. I want to commend the NGA for the great work they did putting this year’s committees together and I look forward to another productive year of issue advocacy through the NGA.”
