Sarah Palin and liberal hypocrisy

Marooned in Marin exposes one sane conservative going up against three hypocritical liberals:
Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs was on with Behar, the dancer Ron Reagan Jr., and liberal talk show host Stephanie Miller discussing the libs manufactured controversy about Sarah Palin's writings on her palm. I think it's fair to say that Geller herself brought the IQ level of the show into positive territory. Without her, Behar's show would have looked like a real life episode of Beavis & Butthead: three liberals making dumb cracks about Palin, who has more intelligence in one fingernail than Reagan, Miller & Behar have combined.

Geller exposed the contempt that liberal elites have for everyday Americans with their cracks at Palin's expense, as well as the hypocrisy of so-called feminists who attack Palin, while ignoring honor killings and mutilation of women's sexual organs.
Interesting definition of Ron Reagan, Jr.:
All Ron Reagan could do was dance around Geller's points like he was still wearing his tutu and ballerina shoes. He tried to speak for his father when, in reality, he represents nothing Ronald Reagan stood for. In fact, Ron Reagan Jr. (like his sister, Patty) has spent most of his adult life acting as a useful idiot for the same liberals who regularly mocked the 40th President of the United States as a dunce, a warmonger, a racist and many other negative slurs.

Sarah Palin's principles versus the power grabbers

Many thanks to Concrete Bob at United Conservatives for the heads-up on this American Thinker article about Sarah Palin by Stuart Williamson.

So much of the article jumped out at me that it's difficult to pare it down. You have got to read the entire thing, whether you're a Sarah Palin supporter or not, because it touches on the real issue of what is wrong with politics: Those who are in it for principles are squashed out by those who are in it for power.

Mr. Williamson begins with Gov. Palin stepping down from her post as governor of Alaska and then continues:
True to form, Sarah Palin, her Governorship behind her, clearly and forthrightly declared her intent: to take up arms against the forces dedicated to tearing down our Constitution, destroying our principles of government, disparaging our history of defense of democracy and free enterprise, weakening our military, and saddling generations to come with oppressive debt and entitlement programs. She did so in the same inspirational, forceful manner that won her immediate and enthusiastic acclaim when she joined John McCain on the Republican ticket in ‘08.

Her words, her dynamic style, her good humor and high spirits, as well as her clear dedication to the traditional values of Middle America, have created a great wave of euphoria among conservatives across the country, in the Tea Party movement as well as those who embraced her last fall.
Sounds to me as if Sarah is an American first and foremost. The article continues:
Those ... who have criticized her for being a quitter, a political weakling, doomed forever as a loser, are about to get their first lesson in Palin 101: The word "quit" is not in her vocabulary. She is not a reactive defender. She is a fierce and fearless attack machine. She earned her nickname Sarah Barracuda, on the basketball court. She polished those skills in the rough and tumble of the frontier politics of Alaska.
Hear, hear! Sounds like my political allies.
She is unswervingly honest. She hates liars and cheats.
Amen.
What she says, she means. She makes no idle promises.
Amen again.
This honesty is what brought her into politics in the first place. She ran for mayor of Wasilla because she questioned the motives of the favored candidate. She cleaned up local government. Her integrity is what propelled her to high approval ratings as she rose to the governorship. Her honesty is transparent, it shines through. It resonates with voters, differentiating her from run-of-the mill opportunistic professional politicians.
Honesty ... integrity ... principles. I have seen leaders in the local area with those qualities who were driven out of office by the power grabbers.
The truth is: Sarah Palin is not really a "politician." She did not get into politics to seek power or wealth. She bears no resemblance to the typical politician, who graduated in Law specifically to enter politics; or to the successful businessman who runs for office to gain profit advantage or status; or to the mediocrities who rises through nepotism or dynastic ambition like a Kennedy or a Gore. Or to any party hack out of the Chicago machine.
Principled Republicans who are slashed by Democrats and stabbed in the back by Republicans.... Mr. Williamson has written the most in-depth article about Sarah Palin's motives that I have read. This one should be shared.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!

Sarah Palin draws a crowd wherever she goes. Fishersville Mike has a photo of her with some of the 1,000 people who turned out for her picnic in Wasilla.

The Democrats fear her as they continue vicious attacks against her, moderate Republicans fear her as they stab her in the back ... and conservative Americans love her.

Something tells me the best is yet to come for Sarah Palin.

Sarah! Happy Birthday to Alaska's governor

Born February 11, 1964, conservative leader and Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin turns 45 today. Over at Team Sarah, birthday wishes are being posted for this incredible conservative woman leader.

My own wishes for a woman who has come under attack not only from the left but from Republicans ... may she persevere and find the strength to continue as the leader she is.
Dear Sarah,

What birthday wishes can be sent to such an incredibly strong conservative woman in leadership? May God bless you and your family and help you find the strength to carry on in the face of adversity, a hostile media, and misguided liberals as well as Republicans who go for the politics of personal destruction. Our prayers are with you as you continue to lead at a time when many Republican leaders have lost their way.

With best regards and happy birthday wishes,

~~Lynn Mitchell
Staunton, Virginia
Happy Birthday, Sarah Palin!

Ross Mackenzie with post-election thoughts

Ross Mackenzie, retired editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch Editorial Pages, has a hodge-podge of thoughts today about Election 2008.

In "A Post-Election Potpourri," he reflects on how Barack Obama will govern now that he has been voted into office:
And so Obama, with increased Democratic congressional majorities, has nearly a free hand to ideologize and radicalize. To bridge the gap between his record and his rhetoric. To redistribute by giving away buckets of money the government doesn't possess. To let the Bush temporary tax cuts expire. To abandon the secret ballot in union organizing elections. To deal with anti-American petro-dictatorships in Caracas, Moscow, and Tehran. To confront Islamofascist terror.
A strong John McCain supporter, Mr. Mackenzie defended Sarah Palin from the attacks that have come from McCain staffers and the media:
She has 80-plus favorable ratings in Alaska, compared with just 9 percent favorable nationwide for a Congress boasting a House led by San Fran Nan Pelosi. Yet Palin gave -- and gives -- the left the screaming meemies. Gloria Steinem rode eagerly in the anti-Palin posse -- saying: "This isn't the first time a boss has picked an unqualified woman just because she agrees with him and opposes everything most other women want and need."
He reflects on what the American people want, on the financial situation that helped lead to the outcome, and ponders on the founding of America ... noting that American has always survived.

Ross Mackenzie's column can be found here.

Background on Sarah Palin bashing ...

Glenn Beck talked with Erick Erickson from RedState a week ago about what was happening with Sarah Palin. I missed this interview earlier but it is enlightening and worth reading.

Limbaugh: "Sanctimonious Stone Throwers"

In David Limbaugh's latest column titled "Sanctimonious Stone Throwers," he discusses Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's treatment by elitists from both sides of the aisle:
God bless Sarah Palin, and shame on elitists from both sides of the aisle who have denigrated, demonized and dissed her. I don't care how many "smartest people in the room" types offer pseudo-sophisticated analyses to prove she was a drag on the GOP presidential ticket. They are all manifestly and embarrassingly wrong -- and woefully out of touch -- which is par for the course for elitists.
He also points out:
Speaking of elitists, it's time to address their contempt for rural and southern America, particularly their ongoing smear of the South (and, truth be told, rank-and-file conservative Republicans) as racist.
Mr. Limbaugh also goes after reporters who have slandered voters in Southern states as racists and poorly educated, and does a good job sorting out the accusations and smug attitudes.

Sarah Palin has the liberals scared

I have seen it for myself on my blog ... the liberal commenters who have left scathing and even nasty comments about Sarah Palin, often using a taunting theme of "go ahead and run her ... we like to see the Republicans lose."

To the Democrats I say ... me thinks thou doeth protest too much.

Jacob Laksin, senior editor for FrontPage Magazine, feels the same way. In Smearing Sarah, he writes about the taunts and outright lies by liberals, and the McCain staffer leaks including the disingenious consultant who described the Palin family as “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast.” My, aren't they condescending?

But the bottom line is ... those smears are meant to stop the growing support for a woman who has been embraced by the conservative base of the Republican Party. Laksin wrote:
No mystery surrounds the Left’s hatred of Palin. She energized a Republican Party that was at best halfhearted about its presidential nominee, attracting thousands to her rallies (a late October rally in Missouri brought out at least 13,000 Palin supporters, numbers rivaled only by Barack Obama himself) and almost single-handedly nullifying Obama’s expected poll bounce following the Democratic National Convention.

It bears remembering that the one and only time that McCain pulled even with Obama in the race was after Palin’s addition to the ticket. One wouldn’t expect Democrats to admire these achievements. Less clear is why the McCain’s campaign operatives should find them so blameworthy.
Sarah Palin was governing in Alaska when the national GOP came calling. One suspects the RNC knew they had a problem on their hands ... after all, John McCain's campaign had floated the idea of Joe Lieberman as a vice presidential pick, something that probably would have sunk the campaign once and for all. But when Sarah Palin was chosen, an enthusiasm -- it could be better described as euphoria -- swept through Republican ranks and John McCain, disdained by many, was carried along with Sarah's popularity.

Laksin discussed that:
For her services to the McCain campaign, Palin has been mocked as an intellectual lightweight and faux-populist, tarred as a religious fanatic and a secessionist, dismissed as a McCarthyite demagogue and declared nothing less than the enemy of reason. In the New York Times, David Brooks wrote that she “represents a fatal cancer to the Republican party,” a charge echoed in the Economist, which accused her of “bringing out the worst in her party.” A marginal but much-noticed chorus of “Obamacons,” including most prominently Christopher Buckley, son of the late William F. Buckley, publically turned against McCain for no other reason than a felt dislike for his vice presidential pick.
The naysayers are running scared. Perhaps they feel if they do not destroy Sarah now, she will emerge to fight them another day. Meanwhile, liberals and Obama supporters continue to look down their noses at Sarah supporters and conservative Republicans. Though we are encouraged to be a Big Tent, they want to squash down the opinions and enthusiasm of a huge section of our Party ... much like knocking out the center pole of the Tent.

I encourage you to read the entire article by Jacob Laksin ... Smearing Sarah.

Scan through the SWAC Girl blog to read about various rallies nationwide that brought out thousands to see Sarah Palin. Two local stories are:

GOP supporters vow to keep Sarah in spotlight

It appears some liberal toes have been stepped on concerning the continuing support from conservatives Republicans for Sarah Palin. The group "Our Country Deserves Better" has raised funds and will begin filming a TV ad in support of Sarah to be shown at Thanksgiving ... a move that was written about in The Caucus, the New York Times blog:
As she seeks to recover politically from her failed election bid on Senator John McCain’s ticket, the big question for Gov. Sarah Palin has been whether her backers would remain enthusiastic over the long run.

As it turns out, over the past few days, about 1,000 people have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Our Country Deserves Better, a political action committee that is planning a pro-Palin advertisement later this month.

“We thought it would be appropriate to have the thank-you ad run around Thanksgiving,” said Joe Wiezbicki, the PAC’s coordinator. The group expects to shoot on Monday and raise “a couple hundred thousand dollars” to buy airtime nationally.
The NY Times caught wind of the ad and wrote about it ... and now it is the #3 most-popular story at The Caucus.

As of Thursday morning, close to 600 comments had been left ... many from liberals who, in typical liberal style, felt it was their duty to trash Sarah Palin and denigrate anyone who dared to support her. Also in typical liberal fashion, some commenters were condescending such as this one from "Disappointed Hockey Mom:"
The money [raised for the TV ad] would be much better served to help hungry families than to help an ego hungry washed up political wannabe…Total waste. No one wants to see it or cares.
Wonder if "Disappointed Hockey Mom" was as concerned about the almost-billion dollars spent by the Obama campaign ... just think how far it would have gone to "feed hungry families."

"Our Country Deserves Better" (OCDB) alerted supporters to the message left by "Stephen" which read:
"I continue to submit that many of these recent comments in support of Palin seem to have been elicited by some group or other. It’s unusual to tune in to an NYT comment line and find an uninterrupted stream of praise without any attempt at engaging the reader into a dialogue. I think this site is being turned into a non-stop Palin advertisement. If there is anyone out there who is not a pod, let’s hear what you think."
OCDB wrote:
Please, re-read that comment. The Obama supporter finds it untenable that there should be "an uninterrupted stream of praise" for a conservative at the New York Times. Well, guess what, "Stephen," in America conservatives are allowed to have opinions too, and we're also allowed to express them.
So Sarah Palin supporters ... your help is needed. Please check out The Caucus blog about the Sarah Palin ad and then leave a positive comment in support of this rising Republican star.

Thanksgiving TV ads will show support for Sarah Palin

Statement on Thanksgiving ad campaign honoring Gov. Sarah Palin...

(SACRAMENTO) -- The New York Times has reported on their Caucus Blog about an upcoming television ad campaign thanking and defending the honor and character of Governor Sarah Palin. The pro-Palin television ad campaign will air nationwide around the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

The pro-Palin ad campaign is a project of the Our Country Deserves Better Committee which raised approximately $1.3 million during the general election to support the McCain/Palin ticket and oppose the Obama/Biden ticket.

The Our Country Deserves Better Committee will be filming the ad next Monday, November 17, 2008, and had not planned to announce the new ad campaign until around the time of the film shoot or post-production of the ad. However, a reporter for the New York Times is on the committee's email list, and when she contacted the organization, we decided to cooperate with the Times.

The ad is being produced specifically to honor, thank and defend Gov. Sarah Palin in the wake of several unfavorable media reports which included criticism from anonymous sources.

The members and supporters of the Our Country Deserves Better Committee have been impressed with Gov. Palin's honor, candor and dignity during the recent presidential campaign. We applaud the way in which she has generally articulated her conservative viewpoints with an optimistic and hopeful style similar to President Ronald Reagan.

Further news releases and information about the upcoming ad campaign honoring Gov. Sarah Palin will follow in the days to come.

Sarah Palin interview on Fox News tonight

Tonight ... 10 pm ... the second part of Sarah Palin's interview will be broadcast on Greta Van Sustern. Greta has done a good job of offering Sarah a platform to rebut the savage negative press against her the past week.

Fox News Channel ... tonight ... 10 pm.

Sarah Palin called Glenn Beck for an interview....

Glenn Beck, the newest member of the Fox News Channel family, was on Fox and Friends this morning talking about a phone call he received from Sarah Palin during the campaign. It turned out she had wanted to be on his show but the handlers would not book her ... so she finally called and booked herself.

The layers of staffers in politics apparently is stifling to someone like Sarah Palin who has streamlined government in Alaska and has tried to get back to basics. That is Alaska and is what is so refreshing about that land to the north. My experience there included truthful people who were down-to-earth and not bogged down in the material quicksand of the Lower 48. They were common sense folks who knew how to take care of themselves in rugged Alaska.

We complain about the bureaucracy in government ... but do we do anything about it? It is past time to get back to basics ... and Sarah has begun, much to the chagrin of those benefitting from the layers of bureaucracy.

Glenn Beck will begin appearing on a regular basis on Fox News in January.
